Being a college student myself, I can see how all of those tips are useful.

Because college can be so stressful, and is such a change from previous life, and comes toward the end of one's teenage years - it's prime time for latent psychiatric problems to come to the fore. This is when many people find out the hard way that they suffer from depressions, bipolar disorder, or other problems. Of course because there's so much going on they may not realize this is what's happening. I ended up dropping out because the bipolar disorder made it so difficult to concentrate, get my work done, and interact reasonably with other people.

My advice in this area: even if you think your problems are "normal," don't be afraid to go see your med center's social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist, or whatever. It's a lot better than having everything blow up in your face! They can often make recommendations for dealing with stress at minimum, and if there *is* a larger problem they can provide therapy and/or medication. Most psychiatric problems do not go away without proper treatment.

Great essay as always!

One thing that you might have included is Credit Cards under the Money section. I and several of my friends had bad experiences the cards we recieved from Credit Card companies who set up booths on the quad. We didn't get stung too badly, but I know of one kid who racked up about $20,000 in credit (no exaggeration). Just an idea. Again, great review. -mad

....students that are getting ready to venture into the college world. I am a senior in college and have been through it all, except the financial diffaculties since I go to a co-op university where we work for half the year. Usually the money you make at work pays for school....its pretty nice. Anyhow, great epinion.
