Fashion Emergencies at the Awards

The Bottom Line If they have the money to look great they have no excuses.
Who looked good and who didn’t?
Okay so I am not a designer, nor do I work in fashion emergency but I still consider myself a person of good taste in clothes. My closet does consist of mostly blue jeans (I am a broke college student) than of Versace dresses but that doesn’t mean that I don’t have style. Well I decided to rate (a thumbs up for good or a thumbs down for bad) the fashions worn by actresses and actors in the 73rd annual academy awards of 2001.
I am going to have to start with my all time favorite actress Drew Barrymore. Sorry Drew but you get a thumbs down. What was she thinking wearing a simple but ugly black fitted grown along with a huge beaded necklace. That dress did not do her any justice to her figure. I am so disappointed in you Drew.
Next Cameron Diaz- She gets a thumbs up all the way with her black, sleek, shear and long neckline dress designed by Versace. It seemed like the dress design itself was made specifically for her. Who knows with her money it probably was. I must add that she has the cutest short hair cut. She looks great.
Faith Hill- Girl what was she thinking. So what if the designer was Versace, it’s ugly and ruins her whole look. The sliver and green mermaid beaded metallic halter grown was a terrible choice. I have one question why did she chose those colors doesn’t she know she is pale enough?
Rachel Griffith- Yet another disappointment she gets a complete two thumbs down. The hot pink halter with gloves designed by Richard Tyler. The look seems so old fashioned like she just pulled the dress out of her closet that she wore to her high school prom.
Lucy Liu- She looked great with her Versace red and black sheer one shoulder gown. I don’t think anyone else wore that shade of red, which made her stand out in the crowd and cause attention to her self. She is deffinately on my list of good taste.
Sarah Mclachlan- You gotta love her she’s bold and daring. Her white, pink and red embroidery strapless dressed designed by Richard Duke made her stand out as well. It is so great that she decided not to look like everyone else with an ordinary dress.
Cate Blanchett- Talk about plain Jane. A dark blue and pink flower along the neckline designed by Galliano. No way… Must someone remind her that she was going to 73rd Annual Academy Awards and not the grocery store.
The Men:
Well we must not forget the men. A well-dressed man is always something good to look at. Let’s start with one of my favorite male actors Sean Connery. He wore a classy black and white tux. A man can never go wrong wearing that, especially a man like Connery. But than again he is the type man that would probably look good in anything.

Jim Carrey- What a nice surprise, despite his geeky persona, in my opinion he was one of the best male dressers at the awards. He wore a burgundy satin tux designed by Richard Tylers. I am a huge fan of standing out and he did exactly that by wearing a burgundy suit instead of the classic black and white tux.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker- Let’s not forgot them, the weirdo’s. As I mentioned before daring to be different it great but these guys went a little over board. Matt Stone decided to wear a pink female Ralph Lauren dress (he was supposed to look like Gwyneth Paltrow at the 71st Annual Academy Awards.) Trey Parker decided to wear a green female Ralph Lauren dress (he was suppose to look like Jennifer Lopez also at the 71st Annual Academy Awards.
Okay so I am done picking at these wonderful people. You are probably thinking to yourself what is the point of this review? Well to tell you the truth I was online looking at the Awards web page. I couldn’t help but to search through who wore what, how they look and write about it. It’s just harmless fun.
