I purchased these speakers to attach to my new computer that had come with little "tin box" type speakers. I saw these at the store and at the recommendation of one of the employees there decided to buy these speakers. Unfortunately, they did not have a "demo" set of these speakers set up (which should have been a clue to me). I was assured by the store employee that these were some of the best speakers they had and they were reasonably priced. So, I decided to give them a shot (knowing I could return/exchange them). I took these home anticipating great sound and easy set up. It only took a few minutes after hooking these up that I knew they would be getting returned. The hook up of the speakers was the first annoying thing. The cords were short and although they were color coded for easy set up, the cords easily tangled and made set up more of a pain than it needed to be. Once I finally got the speakers installed, I turned on my computer and popped in a cd. Then the static began. The one speaker has a volume control (but limited base/treble control). To get the static to stop, it required trying to adjust the volume control on the speaker while simultaneously adjusting the volume control on the computer (my volume control can be adjusted through the keyboard). I finally got the static to stop after about 15 minutes of fiddling with the controls. That was okay until I switched cd's. It seemed as though each cd would need to be adjusted so that you didn't hear only static. This was a ridiculous waste of time and a burden on my ear-drums. So, I immediately packed these speakers back up, returned them to the store and exchanged them for some Labtec 2422 speakers that are great!
