Opinion Summary
Cause It's Men In Tights And It Feels Alright, Oh What A Night
by randomkill | Nov 05 '03
Pros: The best damn teenage gay male romance I have ever come across.
Cons: The second part gets bogged down with fluffy philosophy and internal dialogs.

The sad part is that we have not come that far.
The publishers dropped this booklike a hot potato after 85.

dangerous good ideas (Reply to this comment)

I've been a Marion Zimmer Bradley fan for a few years now, and you're right, i had no idea about this one. There's times when it's weird being born in the 1970's and trying to understand older times: my first reaction was an honestly puzzled "Why did she have such trouble getting this published?", before remembering "Oh yeah, people got skittish about even straight sex, let alone about god-defying perversions". I remember now.

I don't have any personal need for coming-out fiction or for books about circuses. But intelligent romances, with lessons as intelligent as the ones you suggest, are always darned worth having. I'll keep this in mind.

cheers,

Very nicely done!

you said...
"and most threatening of all to the puritans of literature, it was damn good."

Most of the time that alone is worthy of getting a cutting-edge book tossed into the 'banned' pile!

you said...
"even at age 15 I had the distinct urge to plant my face firmly between them and..."

'Stop! Stop! I can't read any farther!'

you finished...
"...Never mind)"

'Whehhhh!'

Very nicely done addition to the resources available here at Epinions. Hopefully your review (and this book) will help others who find it.

But I think the jaggy line breaks in the middle of paragraphs are sure distracting!
