| angelwings724's Full Review: Clorox Bleach Pen |
I'm not one to use liquid bleach very often. I normally choose laundry detergents with the color safe bleach already in it. When I saw the commercial for the Clorox Bleach Pen, I thought it was a good idea, so I purchased it.
It didn't take long before I got my chance to use it. My son has awful nose bleeds. One day, he had (you guessed it) a white shirt on that he wears to school. Needless to say, there was blood all over it. I washed the shirt in cold water, pre-treating it, scrubbing it, then tossing it in the washer, then into the dryer. To my disappointment, the blood stains were still there. So, I grab the Clorox Pen. I read and follow the directions. Voila..the blood is GONE!
I just about jumped for joy.
Next came a shirt of my daughters'. This was red koolaid. I hate that stuff, but she drank some at school in her kindegarten class. Again, I washed the shirt, but the stains remained, at least part of them. The Clorox Pen to the rescue....No more red koolaid!
Ok, let's get down to the nitty gritty. I'm sure you want to know about the Pen itself.
It comes in a blue plastic "pen". Net wt is 2 oz. Both ends have a convenient spout: one end is just a small hole that you squeeze out the bleach through; the other end is round with a brush on it. Each end has an easy screw on plastic top.
The bleach itself is a clear gel. It is fairly thick. It squeezes out easily.
Directions
Shake well before use. Choose tip to be used. Apply gel to stain, rub in and wash immediately. You can use it on most white clothes or any household area that is bleachable. It recommends trying a small area in an un-noticeable spot to insure that it will not cause damage to it.
It is not recommended for use on colored portions of clothes, dry-clean only garments and fine garments such as silk, wool, linen, mohair, leather, or spandex.
It clearly states that some stains may be impossible to remove.
Caution
The same precautions as with any household cleaner or regular bleach. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid ingesting and eye contact.
I am extremely pleased with this product. I have tried using straight bleach on stains such as I had here. It never worked.
But this gel....it gets into the fibers of the clothes and removes the stain (at least the ones that I've had so far). If it can get out blood and koolaid after the stains have already set in....I imagine it can remove most anything that you might need it to.
The commercial shows using this on countertops to remove stains. Again, make sure that you test a small spot first. It recommends not using on plastic laminate countertops and metal for prolonged uses.
Remember, this is bleach. If you use it on colored areas, it can and more than likely will, remove the color.
A great thing about this pen is that you can take it anywhere.....wherever the stain is. It recommends not using it while wearing a garment. You can now remove those stains on clothing with both color and whites; like stripes or other prints. Put the gel right where the stain is!
Other areas it will clean: tile, grout, mildew stains, porcelain.
Whiten and brighten anything.
I was reading the Clorox website about this product. I found an interesting use for it:
"In addition to the multiple uses parents will find for Clorox Bleach Pen Gel, it's also likely to hold appeal for the "design it yourself" (DIY) side of the family, where writing initials on jeans to creating designs on tee-shirts rates higher on the charts than laundry or cleaning. Customizing a design with the pen is as easy as write, wait (about 10 minutes, depending on how dark the fabric is) rinse and wear."
Isn't that a neat idea?
I purchased the Pen at WalMart for $2.99. It was well worth it.
I highly recommend the Clorox Pen.
Thanks for reading.
