Lakeside Collection.com; A Mixed Bag
by vemartin | Nov 8, 2003
According to the Lakeside Collection slogan: “good things in life don’t have to cost a fortune.” To that sentiment, I would like to add my own maxim: “products ordered on websites should be consistently available and arrive faster than the speed ...

Shipping issues (Reply to this comment)

I ordered from ABC Distributing. It is one of the companies linked to Lakeside. I placed an order in October. The items were shipped in multiple shipments. I was told some items were "back ordered" and would receive them at a later shipment and others had no explanation for multiple shipments. One item was intended to be a Christmas present. I didn't receive it until January. Waiting four months on a back ordered item is unacceptable. I don't feel as though the shipment hassle and cost is worth the low prices. Paying for multiple shipments adds up. Unless you only plan to order one item and have no preference to when it arrives, ABC,Lakeside, LTD are not companies I would recommend. However, I have no complaint about the quality of the items.

Unsure of Lakeside (Reply to this comment)
by wifienmommy
My mother has been receiving Lakeside Collection magizines for around 2 years now, but never got the chance to order. One time recently, I asked her if she still got their magizines & she said she did. I asked if I could borrow it & sure enough, she let me.
I got online to their site & saw some things I'd like to have for my daughter, my husband, my mother and for myself as gifts. I did make the purchace of about 12 or so items. I've made this purchase without an account, (now I'm thinking I should have made one) but I still have my confirmation number they gave me.
The order was placed on the 31st of August & it says it was sent out on the 7th of September. It is now September 11th & the status of my order still says "shipped." without any updating. It does however, mention, that when the items are in my area, all of the information will be updated & I'll receive my order within 1-2 business days after that is posted up.
I've never heard of such a thing! I ordered 2 items from overstock.com on the same day, and received both of those items already. That's when I started to realize something was up with Lakeside Collection. So, I tried to find their location on google & came across this site right here. I've read what a bunch of you had to say about lakeside & I wanted to create an account, so others can hear my story about Lakeside Also. I will keep posting on here to give updates. I hope I will not have to call customer service like a lot of you had to do.
Would I reccommend Lakeside? On that, I'm still unsure...

Lakeside a pain in the !! (Reply to this comment)

I found Lakeside a few years ago, BUT will never order from them again, as I told them in an e-mail a few days ago. They send you an email with their special prices. Go ahead, order them, and see how they send your confirmation. Then a few days later you get an order cancellation...then a few weeks (usually 3-4) you get the stuff you really didn't want but ordered JUST because you were ordering anyway (and thought were cancelled as well) along with too high shipping handling charges...LOL. This has happened WAY TOO many times with them and I am tired of the disappointments. I will never order from them again!

NO trouble with Lakeside.com (Reply to this comment)
by jp1972
I didn't have any trouble with Lakeside Collections! I ordered my christmas gifts normally and I received them when lakeside said I would. I have been using them for years and I never have any trouble. From time to time things will be out of stock but that is how it is at any store, especially around christmas. I order from lakeside a few times a year and I think they are great.

You are so right! I must say that I found Lakeside through friend, and I refered my Mom. The items are WONDERFUL at great prices. But the hell you go through after ordering isn't worth it! And I would like to point out that they DO charge you before telling you it is out of stock! They did for me. They actually do a "pending charge" of your total after the order is placed. Then before shipping they do it again! So you actually have to have double the amount to order from Lakeside. ` of the items I ordered were unavailable, backorder, or out of stock. Ummm, could be nice to mention that next to the items! Ya think? JEESH! This company will never have my business again. I ordered a golf clock for a Christmas present, and I was lucky to get a gorgeous wooden 4 foot doll house for my daughter for $80....mind you that was backordered and will be here late, and I also ordered the furniture which later was cancelled so I had to go out and find new doll house furniture (after they released the charge on my card). Pointblank - it is exhausting ordereing from them. And the shipping is painfully slow... like the whole ordering process. Just stay away from Lakeside please!!

Almost a First-Time Customer with LakeSide.com (Reply to this comment)

I was in the process of placing my first order with Lakeside.com, but after reading the reviews, I decided against placing an order. The comments on lack of information on checkout, the shipping delays and shipping charges that could occur per item, deter me. Hopefully, Lakeside.com has a Rep. out there reading these reviews, so they can work on improving these flaws ASAP, because they just lost a to-be-customer.

Buying from Lakeside.com - what to expect (Reply to this comment)
by tejas_yuki
To make this short and (not-so) sweet . . .

For Christmas of 2005, I placed my first order with lakeside.com. I don't remember the delivery time, but I do recall I received a wrong product. I attempted several emails to them, trying different 'reason for email' hoping to get a real response. Never, did I get a real response --- they were ALL automated response emails with an added note 'do not reply to this email, this email address is not monitored'. I never got the right product, never got my refund and was never sent the return code number to send the item back. Needless to say, it ended up being a birthday present 8 months later to my niece.

So, I recently decided to give them another try. I thought maybe it was just a horrible one time experience for me. Well, I surely was proved wrong now, wasn't I?? I placed my order and low and behold, 5 days later checked the status and the website states 'no status information'. Why? Because they have a scheduled warehouse inventory and therefore, evidently, cannot process my order (that was placed PRIOR to the scheduled inventory). Never was I told in my check out process that this was going to be an issue and delay my shipment. So what do I do? I email them asking about my shipment and when to expect my item to ship. WHAM! Two automated emails stating how to check the status of my shipment (ummm DER!!) and another about their stupid inventory. Both also stated not to reply to this email because it is not monitored!! RRRRRRrrrrrrrr!!! Can this company's customer service be any worse?

This is the LAST time I order from this company. It's too bad - I like a lot of the stuff in their catalog and their prices are nice. Too bad the shipping and customer service is the worst of its kind!!

I had the worse experiences this year. Last year I ordered a lot of merchandise, everything was on time, no problems! This year there where so many problems I might not order from this company, at least not where it is a gift for someone.

Lakeside /LTD Commodities and ABC Distributing all the same (Reply to this comment)
by cheminger99
Hello: I am in total agreement with this review. Would also like to let you know that ABC Distributing and LTD Commodities (all 3 owned by same entity) have the same drawbacks and more. They do NOT give you any shipping prices and then if you order say 3 items that could all fit in the same box, OH NO...they ship them SEPARATELY and charge you shipping for each separate item. I was appaled that I order a pair of shoes (slipper type very light) in two colors and guess what, they shipped them in separate boxes and charged me $5.95 for each. So while their prices seem good, they get you with the shipping and just like Lakeside, they don't tell you until weeks later when an item is out of stock. I ordered a SANTA CARDIGAN in August, guess what I just got notification yesterday oh by the way ms. customer, it's out of stock with no mention of when it will be in stock. I would say, this isn't the place to get your holiday items because they aren't reliable. Thanks for listening. Carleen
