I got this computer about 1 and a half years ago. It still works with all the games I have and runs all the Microsoft Word and Microsoft Works things fine. The speed is fine for just about anything and is almost too fast for anything that is really old.
Good- 400mhz is still OK for today's computers. (1.4 gigahertz computers have come out, but they are both very expensive and not really worth getting unless you have the money or need one, which most people don't fit into either category). Good graphics card for the money (an ATI RAGE PRO TURBO CARD with 8 MB of RAM. You can get a better graphics card for about one hundred dollars or less. Also, you can buy a VERY good graphics card for 400, they are called ATI Radeon Pro with 64MB) and the computer has AGP Ports, which means you can upgrade your graphics card, which I want to do! 96MB of RAM is great for anything a typical computer user is used to, you can upgrade the RAM easily, 96MB of RAM is not good for editing large photos or movies because your computer will lock up. The CD Drive will handle ANYTHING you need for a while. A good Hard Drive for anyone.
Bad- It was good-back then. The processor speed is becoming less and less good for a desktop computer.
Overall- It's worth it if you want an inexpensive computer and there are only a couple games you want to play. It's great for anything a typical computer user does. (A typical computer user as in: Spends a couple hours online a day, usually isn't aware of what's actually running in the computer, uses computer for business or education).
NOTE- Don't lose the Recovery CD! I did and my computer went down completely, we spent $200 to fix it but after that it didn't come with the normal HP programs.
Here are the computer specifications-
400mhz Celeron Processor Speed (OK)
96 Megabytes of RAM (Good)
8 Megabytes of Video RAM (ATI RAGE PRO TURBO 2X, Good)
32x CD-ROM SPEED (Good, for a long time)
9.6 Gigabyte Hard Drive (Good)
Recommended:
Yes
Amount Paid (US$): 1000 Operating System: Windows Processor: Intel Celeron Processor speed: 301-400 RAM: 96 Internal Storage: CD-ROM
