Pros: Smart interface, Li-ion battery, vibrate feature, good calling plan
Cons: none so far. I have only had it for 24hrs.
The Bottom Line: Go ahead, get it. Go to a store that will allow you to take it back if you are not totally satisfied - like Best Buy.

| familyde4's Full Review: Kyocera Mita Virgin Pay-As-You-Go Mobile Kyocera P... |
After reading this review, I decide to get one for my wife. (So far, I have been playing with it and she has only used it once - opps). I have only had it for 24 hours now, but in that time I really put it through its paces.
I also got the K-7 Rave. This is a great little phone! It has a really cool blue backlight and a great interface. Pushing and holding the up arrow allows you to find out your account balance - This is great. You can also go on their website and log in to see your remaining time and when and where it went. This is a great tool, too. Pushing and holding the left arrow allows you to lock the keys - an important feature for anyone with children, purse or pockets, for that matter. It has a Li-ion battery pack which gives it much better battery life then some of the other pay-as-you-go's (Boost Mobile, I am talking to you). You can set it to vibrate which is another great feature for people with kids. Simply hold the right arrow and this feature is invoked. Smart interface, good icons, Li-ion battery pack, vibrate feature - I got my $$ worth.
I also looked into Free-to-go, TouchMobile, Boost Mobile. AT&T (free-to-go) looked like a good plan for people who, like my wife, do not plan on using the phone much. They have an attractive $10 refill card, but you pay 50cent/min (85cents/min if you roam) and the minutes only last 45days. Free2go also had a lot of customer complaints regarding changes to their plan, 85cent roaming charges and other billing disputes.
Virgin allows me to refill with $20 (which is twice as much) but it lasts for 90days(twice as long), you pay 25cents/min(half as much) and there's no roaming charges. This is pretty nice. I also like the fact that if you have a really busy day on the phone, it drops to 10cents/minute after 10 minutes and stays there for the rest of the day. The "Touch" one looked like a real mess (see this site). Boost looked good, but the phone was not so great - 75 hours of stand-by?? Ummm, that's only 3 days. This one lasts for 7.5 days(half as much).
I had to call their service folks twice to get this thing setup - I will take part of the blame. After a little bit of "voice jail", push '1' to do this and '2' to do that (too many options) I got through to a real person very quickly. Both times they were professional, friendly and helpful. It was a good experience.
I was a little concerned that I do not get good signal strength at my house. The service person encouraged me to try it anyway and it works. No bars on my old Nokia meant no talking - infact that is also what one bar meant. This phone shows the antenna if it has signal and bars for additional strength. I like that - "Under promise and over deliver", that's what I wanted.
Coverage Varies - I read on-line that best buy was a good place to buy cell phones. If it doesn't work for you in your coverage area, you can take it back and at least try another carrier/phone. The rep confirmed that and the sale was done. I payed $59.9X. Your first $10 of talk time comes with the kit.
