Good Phones, Horrible Service

Pros: Good phones.
Cons: Pathetic customer service--to die for (die of frustration, that is).
The Bottom Line: ATT cellular service is a recipe for frustration.

ATT has good phones, it is true, but the service in the North San Francisco Bay Area is terrible. The GSM system has poor coverage--so many areas have no service (even though the crummy map says they do) and there are lots of dropped calls. Many, many areas in this area of California have no GSM service at all, right now, and ATT is doing a poor job of getting this new system up and running. In the area my home is in, also, the local unit has been "down" for several months now and has not been repaired. Stop spending all your time on flashy commercials, ATT, and actually get your new system working right!!!
And then there is ATT Customer Service: even on a good day it is terrible. It is almost impossible to get a live human being on the line, and when you do it is only to be told you are talking to the "wrong department," and then its the old switcheroo again, for another 20 minutes on hold, and then another unhelpful person. Why can't you just call one number to get problems straightened out, instead of being switched to 5 different departments and spending 1 to 2 hours on hold? ATT, get a clue as to what the words "Customer Service" mean.
