The Bottom Line Developing a quality epinions personality is the bedrock for your personal success and the success of the community.
Epinions.com has many members and equally many personas. So, how can you make sure your voice is heard and that your writing becomes valuable to other members and well valued. This will allow other members to respect you and the work you put out, and if they respect your writing, they are much more likely to want to read your other articles and to come back and read new material. 3. Write quality pieces It's also essential for your work to be of a high standard, not just as a matter of impressing other members, but much more to do with the question of respect. If an article is put out with sloppy punctuation and no attention to detail, members will draw unflattering conclusions from that, which in turn will only serve to alienate you and your work from the mainstream community. Instead, make sure you read over everything you write in draft form before you put it out as published. Correct any errors you spot, having a dictionary and thesaurus handy is a good idea. Use headings if you want to write a significant amount in your piece, that way your work will come across as well thought out and well organised - more indicators for other members of your overall epinions personality. 4. Write with 'flair' If you want to stand out and let your voice be heard, it's worth investing some time in making sure your work not only reads well but has something a little 'extra', something that will help members associate you with high quality and punchy writing. Contact other members If a member takes the time to e-mail you directly, please take the time to return the compliment. You don't need to write loads, a simple thank you and response to any questions is sufficient. Consider e-mailing members if you have read some of their work and would really like to let them know how you feel. It's important not to abuse this facility. Don't write to members just to ask them to read your own opinions. Instead, be honest and friendly with them, giving your reasons for writing and enclosing your own e-mail address for them to respond to. It's a great way to make genuine friends online. 7. Use your web of trust Make use of your web of trust. If you like a member's work and trust them enough, add them to your web. The web is there to bring the epinions community together in a spirit of mutual trust and respect, so use it with care and with integrity. A community is only as great as its members allow it to become. Invest in the epinions community with a positive and quality personality and it will pay real dividends in both the short and longer term.  |
