| kamel622's Full Review: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser |
One day my third daughter (chalathra on eps) called to me that one of her daycare parents had just called her to let her know that she had just bought Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and was thrilled with the results.
Up to that point I hadn't heard of this product, but it wasn't long before some great reviews popped up and all of them gave it either 4 or 5 stars. Now I'm not a sucker for anything new that comes down the pike, but when a product gets such wonderful praise from so many different people then I've just got to give it a try.
What is it?
Well, just as the name implies, it is an eraser. It sure sounded strange to me that you could use an eraser on walls without it being a big problem, but I sure was willing to try.
I bought the two pack, but they also come in a four pack and that's what I'll pick up next time. Each white pad measures 4.6 X 2.4 X 1.0 in. It fits well in the hand and didn't seem to bother my skin as I used it.
The directions are very simple, Wet with warm water, Squeeze out the excess, Gently rub eraser on surface to remove tough dirt and grime. (Taken from the package)
The package also says that if using for dishwashing to rinse thoroughly. I must admit, I hadn't thought of using these for dishwashing, but I'm sure they would clean my Corelle dishes to a great shine. Hey, I'll bet they would be great on my pyrex dishes that seem to get stains on them when using them in the oven. I'll add to this review about that when I pick up another package.
My Feelings
I was amazed as I took the first one from the package and began cleaning with it. Even in a house with only two adults there seem to be lots of finger prints around door jams and light switch plates so those were the first areas I tried cleaning. I was amazed as the spots vanished before my eyes. Some of the walls are latex and some a low gloss, but they all responded the same way...the dirt was gone!
Next I tried it on my appliances. Again I was happy as it removed spots from the front of the refrigerator. I do have to say that I was a bit disappointed that it didn't clean the top of my very old white cooktop stove. I'm always on the lookout for something that will allow me to clean it without having to get out the Ajax Cleanser after each use. No such luck, but I sure don't blame the Magic Eraser for that.
I walked around looking for things to clean and smiling as the dirt was erased from everything I tried. Okay, I had one final test that I thought the eraser might fail.
The highchair that Jake (2 year old daycare child) sits in wipes down rather easily, except for the foot rest. No matter how much I've scrubbed it, it always has a dingy look to it. I was very pleased when the Magic Eraser erased the grime from the rough surface.
I have a dresser that has a very strange surface to it. I don't even know what to call it, but it is rather porous and hasn't been cleaned in a very long time. Each of my children has had this piece in their bedroom at some point while growing up and I'm ashamed to admit it was pretty darn dirty. The eraser did its job! Because of the rough surface, it did wear the eraser down rather quickly, but I'm pleased with how clean it is now, so that is a minor drawback.
I also like that it can be rinsed out, back to white, with just a quick rinse under the faucet. I was surprised at how the dirt just flowed out and the eraser was clean again.
So here I am writing the 21st review of a product that I would very highly recommend. It lives up to its claims and is very easy to use. Thank you Mr. Clean!
