Surviving? Try living it up!Mar 30 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line There are many things that you can do in college if you keep a healthy perspective on grades and the real world. I am a recent college grad. Looking back, I realize that if my perspective had been slightly different, I may have had an easier time once graduation came. In college, I starved, drank and talked with thousands of other students doing the same. I became wrapped up in my grades. I did the school play. I did concerts. I forgot there was a real world and that it was waiting for me once I left school. I realize now that had I taken more of a view of what after college was like and prepared cleverly for that, I might have been better off. College students, if you are reading this, don't limit yourself to the world inside you school. Use your time to start programs, companies, projects outside your college. Later, you'll already have a foundation to start on once graduated. For instance, you'll never have the flexible college schedule again. Think of a good business idea and implement it using all your time. Make use of common sense and gear classes and classwork toward your real-life goal. If you're doing the work, exploit it. Invent something, be creative. |
