The Bottom Line Fisher-Price equals quality in great educational toys.
We are starting to become Fisher-Price collectors in our house! My daughter is now one year old and from the beginning I have appreciated the great quality of Fisher-Price toys. In our "collection" we now have the following items: A toy-phone, a school bus, a turtle, stacking cups and a cash register. The cash register has been put away for a year or so, but the other toys are frequently used. The toy phone has been fun for at least six months already. It has four buttons with sounds (dog barking, baby laughing, whistle and train) and one ringing button which makes the receiver vibrate while itīs ringing. The cord is very short, obviously for safety reasons, but it makes it difficult for the child to answer without having to lift up the entire telephone. In this cordless age I think it would be better without a cord and I am considering to cut it off. The school bus is a big yellow thing with three children and one bus driver, plus a wheelchair. They can all be taken out. A door opens, as well as the back. A stop flag can be swung out. When rolling the bus, the children hops up and down. Also the bus has eyes which roll around. My daughter is obviously too small for this bus to use it properly, but she still enjoys it a lot. The turtle is a cute little thing. Itīs yellow and green with red feet which move around and makes a rattling sound. She plays with it like with a car. It came with a pulling string, but I took it off for safety reasons. The stacking cups are a favourite. Eight cups in eight sizes, in red, blue, green and yellow. They stack into or on top of each other. She stacks them or use them when sheīs "cooking" (which is her favourite past time at the moment). The cash register seems great, but she is far too young for it. Three might be a good age. It comes with coins that went straight to her mouth. My general comment is that the Fisher-Price toys are of such good quality. The phone for instance has been tossed and thrown A LOT and it still looks brand new and all the buttons work. The colors are nice and bright, appealling to a child. Also I first thought Fisher-Price was a bit expensive, but in comparison it is not. A competitor might be a dollar or so less, but then you might not get the Fisher-Price quality. So in this case I recommend the slightly more expensive purchase. In my family we are stuck on Fisher-Price! |
