The Bottom Line The hotels and restaurants here are the best in the world.

I found this nice little 3 star hotel about a block and a half from the Stazione Termini in Rome. Address: Via Fillipo Turati 62-64.
E mail address is hotelkennedy@micanet.it.

This place has a fabulous breakfast area and the breakfast is part of the deal there. Also, if you will pay cash, they will give you a nice discount on your room rate. Prices are more than reasonable and the rooms are nice and clean. All in all, this is a first class operation. The fine multilingual staff there is very friendly, courteous and professional. I have been very fortunate so far with hotels in Europe and the Kennedy is among the best non 5 star I've found. Admiral-London, Bewleys Newlands Cross-Dublin, Comfort Inn Opera Comique-Paris, Comfort Inn Malesherbes-Paris also rate up there too.

Within the block of the Kennedy is the wonderful restaurant, Trattoria Giovanni di Valentino. Via Fillipo Turati 36. Giovanni is from Pesca on the east coast of Italy. The whole family is involved here even his 6 year old son, Luca. This is a family style place where everyone sits at each other's tables and socialization is the mode of the day. He often will have local foods, especially cheeses from his region there. His speciality is Gambaretti. A large crayfish that is bigger than most prawns. Of course, his buffet of varied vegetable (mostly eggplant, artichokes, and red peppers) delights is served cold with lots of love and olive oil. This place has fabulous pasta and huge plates of it are forced upon you from his spic and span kitchen. Valentino's Spaghetti al Carbonara is to die for.
