Great Expectations...........Mar 31 '01 Write an essay on this topic.The Bottom Line This is supposed to be a quiet, relaxed and romantic place to vacation......we'll see. As I say farewell to all of you at Epinions for the next week or so, I am dreaming of what is to come in the next 48 hours. We are headed south for Mazatlan tomorrow. I am very familiar with all that Mexico has to offer due to the fact that I have vacationed there many times over the last fifteen years. I title this review with a bit of trepidation since I have never been to Mazatlan and Ixtapa. For those of you that are familiar with me and my love of Cabo San Lucas, you already know the reason that I won't be going there this year. If you don't, the reason is because our new place is being built as I write. I chose Mazatlan because it has the same cozy and romantic reputation that makes many fall in love with Cabo. We'll see............. My job affords me the ability to speak with many travelers, and everything that I have heard about this jewel on the Mexican Riviera is positive. My friend Liz, who by the way is an expert on any destination that you could choose, raves about the fact that you can deep sea fish, take your catch into the local restaurant and the chef will prepare it for you! A fellow flight attendant raves about all of the beautiful countryside that you can take in by renting a jeep. She was a tour guide there before becoming a flight attendant, and claims the place has her heart. Mike is really looking forward to seeing the ruins. I can't wait to haul my giant swordfish into the local cantina for a feast!! I feel very confident about my accommodations, and again if you know me, it means something for those words to come out of my mouth! We are staying at a five star resort called Pueblo Bonito. It is a beautiful beachfront resort that is surrounded by beautiful pools. (Did I mention that I have been working my butt off trying to be a babe in my swimming suit?) I so look forward to the masseur's hands massaging away the past year of stress!! I am very familiar with this company and am assured that there will be nothing but the best awaiting us in this department. (I am still trying to make it up to Mike after the Windjammer experience----by the way, we'll be celebrating our 2nd anniversary on this trip.) I have never had a complaint whatsoever about a margarita and good nachos.......Mexico is one place that you can bank on consistency regarding food. Margarita's, my husband, and watching the world go by without a care, makes me one happy girl!! All and all, I am looking forward to this vacation without the doubt lurking in the back of my head when I'm not 100% positive that I have made a concrete choice. From reading all of the great things that everyone at Epinions has said, I feel overly confident that we are looking at one wonderful vacation!! You know that I will let you know if my expectations are not met!! STAY TUNED!!  |
