| cobra526's Full Review: ABS Multimedia System 2 |
I ordered a similar computer: 850 AMD Thunderbird, 20 Gig, 128MB RAM, 12x DVD, GeForce 2 GTS, and a Sound Blaster Live, for the grand total of $1139. When I received the computer and hooked everything up, I turned it on and got all kinds of error mess. A friend and I messed with it and we found that the hard drive cable had been knocked loose in shipping. Once that had been taken care of, we tried to setup Windows. After repeated failures due to errors, I guess the power supply just gave up. I called ABS and they told me to send it back for repair. I sent it back and after about two weeks of calling, I learned that it was on its way back. This time, the computer was packed so tight and secure that the Fed Ex guy could have throw it from the truck to the driveway and it would have been fine. Also, it started up fine and hasn't given me any problems since. I can't blame ABS for the hardware problems, but as for the actual performance of the computer once it worked, I can say that I am truly impressed. I got a top-of-the-line computer for a reasonable price and like I said, it hasn't given me the slightest bit of problem once it worked. I won't have to worry about purchasing another computer for a long time.
