I just want you to know that I printed out several of your review here and mailed them to my family and friends.
Your review helped so much. My niece (who just got a computer) received a download with an unfamiliar address.
She called me up remembering what it said on your review and told me that she deleted it. I said "Good Girl!" So I want you to know that you have helped save someone's computer and all the others I sent your review to is heeding your advice. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

I get tons of spam too, but I've slowly managed to block most of them...
One tried to send me a virus recently, some of those spammers are really bad!

I hate SPAM!! (Reply to this comment)
by tbeyer
I, too, discovered every time I leave my e-mail anywhere I am suddenly bombarded with spam. The worst source was actually a free e-mail service I used so I could avoid spam - how ironic! Have you ever been to Spamcop? I use it daily and my spam has decreased, plus I get a feeling of satisfaction when the site I report is shut down! I wrote a review awhile back; here is the link if you'd like to read it: http://tbeyer.epinions.com/cmd-review-E8B-1827B686-3A16FF89-prod2
Great article!

Good one, A (Reply to this comment)

I have four levels of email account protection, two of them free sites. Anyone new goes on the lower level of free site protection, then (after proving fealty) can get upgraded to free site # one.
Nobody, but nobody, gets my primary home and office addresses except by accident.
And yet I still get a lot of spam at the office. Know why?
1) Usenet -- people are still culling my office email address from Deja News, I think, even though I haven't posted in about two years.
2) My employer INSISTS on having my email address listed on the corporate website -- those scripts that grep usenet for email addresses also work very well on the web -- all they have to do is look for the "mailto" tag.
I've since redirected mine to freemail site # 2... for what it's worth.

Enlightened... (Reply to this comment)

Lady Angela,
Hi, remember me? I've been to epinions after a long time, but lady of the books, you sure write good articles, even if its not to do with the children books. This one is enlightening...as were the one on "yellow underwear" and the recent satire on Epinions.
As for Aribou's comments, technically chain letters may not be considered as spam, but is nevertheless irritating and best avoided and I believe the article is general - so 3 cheers to Angela

Just reminding you of your old spam days.
I just wish I could get rid of the ones
that say, just click here to see Bubbles
topless. Uh, maybe I don't want to see
Bubbles topless. . . nor do I want a virus.
Nice review!

Hello! (Reply to this comment)

Pretty comprehensive. But you are misunderstanding some points. So, sorry, this is why of my "Helpful" rating.
One thing to be noted is that chain mail is not considered spam. Spam is an unsolicited e-mail sent in bulk. I just wanted to point this out, though this is not reason of my rating.

for sharing the good advice. I put a fake name down once just to see if what a friend told me was true about spam.
A few days later I got advertisements with that name on it so I knew the source of where it came from.
