Pros: Does work to some degree. Hasn't caused any damage
Cons: Doesn't work better than other products I've tried.
The Bottom Line: Kaboom may remove some dirt, soap, etc. It is worth trying out if you wish. I don't find it one of the better Orange Glo products. It is merely average.

| Suzer's Full Review: Kaboom Shower, Tub and Tile Cleaner |
My home was made in the 1940's. This means an old bathtub, old pipes, and in my area, hard water. Orange Glo's products for the most part are very impressive-at least I have had very good results with the majority. I had heard about Kaboom on television; yes, on an advertisement for the product, but I was intrigued. Kaboom is a pretty nifty name. I had big plans for Kaboom, but they went Kerplunk.
Packaging:
Kaboom comes packaged in a 22 fluid ounce purple plastic bottle with a spray dispenser. The cap is green, so yes, it is definitely noticeable in the store display. I paid about $7.00.
Scent:
Scent is important to me. I have been known to use a cleaning product because I loved its scent, and by the same token, I have refused to continue using a product because of its scent. Kaboom has a floral scent. It is fine. It isn't wonderful; it isn't offensive to me, and it did not make me sick or dizzy (a plus).
Features:
The manufacturer states that it aggressively cleans the following:
* Hard Water Buildup
* Dirt
* Soap scum
* Rust Stains
* Calcium & Lime Stains
* Grout
They further indicate that it cleans by using natural ingredients and breaking through all of these hard to alleviate irritants.
So, what can you use it on?:
They suggest it for use on your:
~*~ Bathroom & shower fixtures and sinks
~*~ Bathtubs & shower stalls
~*~ Shower tile
~*~ Bathroom counter tops
It is said to remove your soap scum, dirt, hard water buildup, calcium and lime stains, rust stains, grout.
How to use:
They suggest you test it out on a spot that won't be noticed first of all. Spray it directly to the surface, or you can use a sponge if you prefer. Let it remain for a few minutes. Then wipe and rinse completely with water, so that it won't dry on the surface. Do it as many times as required, then rinse your sponge with water (if used).
Ingredients:
Organic Salt, Surfactants, Fragrance:
Warnings:
Harmful if swallowed. Contact with eyes or mucous membranes may cause irritation or burns. If you have sensitive skin it is recommended that you use gloves when using this product. Work in a well-ventilated area. Do not mix with bleach, mildew stain removers or any other household chemicals as hazardous gases may be released. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Contains no phosphorus
My experience:
Unlike some products I've used for cleaning, I had no problem getting this product to spray. It did not leak, and it was not hard to dispense. However, when I sprayed it on the tile around my bathtub, it shot out soapy blobs of product. They then sort of dripped down. It may have been preferable to spray into a sponge as they suggest, rather than directly onto the surface. I have used it for the following:
Hard water stains
Slight mildew
Soap scum
Dirt
and also some shower gel that I had managed to drip onto the bathtub tile.
It did clean all the above fairly well, but I did not care for the soapy blobs, and I don't think it cleans aggressively. I think it cleaned rather wimpily and drippily. I would have preferred a nice even spray all over the tile and tub. I have not used it for attempting to remove rust stains so I can not attest to how it works in that situation. It works; I just think that they can come up with a product that isn't so messy, and yet works on it all. I was pleased that though they suggest people with sensitive skin use gloves, that it did not cause any problems for me even without gloves. The fumes did not bother me, though I forgot to open the window a few times for ventilation.
Final thoughts and recommendations:
So, overall this is an okay product that basically works, though I did not test it with a really challenging job. The scent is okay, it did not cause topical problems for my skin; it dispenses in a strange way, but doesn't leak. Give it a try if you like. Be sure to heed the warnings on the packaging, in particular, keep away from children and pets. I am giving it 3 stars. It can be purchased online, and perhaps some brick and mortar stores.
