Palm M100 is the new babe in town and I, as a person who dream to use the 'palm computer' was really excited when it hit the town.
My dream of having my own Palm was back 2 years ago after looking at my colleague Palm III.(At that time, money was limited) Since then, I was captured by it's functions.
The first 2 months M100 hit the town, I went to get it. But most of the re sellers said that I have to wait for new stocks to come. Wow!! It sell like hot cakes.
By middle of October 2000. At last, I got my hands on M100. It is my own now.

The reason I bought M100, was that I'm a newbie and I think I don't need lots of MB.


Setting Up
The setting up was easy. You may choose several language e.g. English, French, Italian and German as I bought it in Switzerland. In matter of minutes my M100 was up and ready to roll.


The Hot Sync.
This was also an easy task for anyone, even for seniors. Just load in the CD, in 10 minutes. It finish everything including Hot Sync your PC with your M100.
Note: If you try to install it to your office PC. It might not work as it need access to Registry. Unless you have the admin password !!


The Applications.
Basic applications was given Memo Pad, Note Pad, Address Book, Security, Hot Sync, Calculator and Appointments Calendar. These basic application is good and for an average user like me. I feel it is enough.

Infra Red
Yup.. it works well with any PC with Infra Red Port. But word of advise. If you do Hot Sync, it is preferable if you use the cable as it is faster. With infra Red you can exchange addresses with other palm users. With a touch of a button, you may send your Business Card to another palm person.

Graffiti
It is superb. The first few hours you might need to check on how to write it. But later.. it is a breeze. Even now, I just bring my M100 to my meetings to jot down any important points. My boss was surprise, he thought using Graffiti was difficult.

Screen.
M100 screen for one thing is made from plastic, not like it's brothers and sisters which is out of glass. So it won't brake easily. Due to this, the sensitiveness of the touch screen is a bit down compare to the other models.

The thing I hate.
The only thing I hate about M100 was the shell itself. The plastic casing was to fragile and vulnerable to pressure. This happened when I purchase a leather wallet cover for my M100. As I was thinking putting everything into 1 wallet, my cash, cards and M100 in one. But this turns out to be a a huge problem. As M100 sandwich in the wallet, it gain some pressure to the case. Which automatically activate M100 without realising it and sometimes it switch the back lit too. This drain my batteries fast. So if you thinking of getting this product have a pressure test first. But please be careful while doing it..don't break anything please. I'm not responsible if it happens. :)

Conclusion:
It is a simple product and easy to use for newbies. Just take extra care of the casing. For me, it is time for me to upgrade to a better model. Which I realise, when you buy something cheap.. you should expect the product quality is cheap too.
