I love this hotel so much, I was married in its Sage Room in January 1999.
This elegant little hotel, built during the Colorado silver rush of the late 19th century, is exquisite. Its size lends it a very intimate feeling, with lots of original wood moldings and gilded ceilings. Each room has its own antique furniture, so no one room is the same in any way.
The Oxford is somewhat of a fixture for those who live in and near downtown. It houses the Aveda Spa and Salon, a terrific gym where the coolest locals exercise, and McCormick's, a fine dining seafood restaurant. The casual restaurant/bar serves much of the same fare. In addition to these is the Cruise Room, decorated in the style of the old cruise liner the Queen Mary. This little martini lounge has a free jukebox with old Sinatra and cool jazz.
Epicurean Caterers, Denver's finest catering establishment, has its satellite office in the Oxford, and they exclusively cater the Oxford's events. Epicurean's staff is simply impeccably mannered.
The Oxford's staff is so well mannered, you'd swear you were in the South. This is quite atypical of Denver, I must say as a semi-native. Above and beyond the call of duty.
If you're still not swayed, let me give you a hint: we live in Florida now, and when we go back to Denver for visits, my husband and I *always* stay at the Oxford for a couple of days. We wouldn't pay to stay anywhere else in Denver.
