Evaluate specific features of this product.
This vacuum comes with an upholstery brush, furniture brush, extension wand and crevice tool. The handle of the vacuum actually converts into the suction house by releasing it from the base - very convenient I think. This is a bagless vacuum. The canister releases from the base very easy. You empty the canister by pressing a lever on the side. To get all debris out, you "twist" the handle and all debris comes out. The Twister has 4 floor height adjustments that you control by sliding a button on the bottom front of the vacuum. It also easily converts to bare floors by sliding a lever out, which is located in the back, bottom right of the machine - this is done with your foot so it's pretty much effortless. The power cord is very long, probably about 30 feet. You are able to clean the removeable canister under tap water. I have done this twice and the vacuum runs just as well.
Explain your rating of this product. I have had this vacuum for about 6 months and have had absolutely no problem with it. Reading the other reviews, I can't believe they had such a bad experience. It's really unfortunate that they were not able to experience this machine at it's fullest and best capacity and had as good experiences as I have had.
How has this product performed over time? Great. I have excessive animal hair so over the 6 month period, it has clogged one time at the base of the hose. But it's very easy to clean, not even worth complaining about.
What do you love and hate about this product, and why? There are only 2 things I don't like: The end of the hose that fits in the machine is metal and I don't like that. I would prefer plastic. The other thing is that the hose does not stretch very long - maybe 6 feet. I find it hard to reach the top of the entertainment center, or fridge, etc.
Which alternate products did you consider, and why did you choose this one? None. I had 2 vacuums before this one, only because I could not find a Fantom anywhere. My mother-in-law has a Fantom Thunder and I love that vacuum and wanted one of my own. Target finally stocked the Fantom Twister and I snatched it up before they sold out.
I just really love this vacuum. I guess my advice would be to buy it and try it and if you don't like it, take it back! Usually a department store has 90 day return limit and I think that would be plenty of time to make a decision about the machine. Good luck, and I hope your experience is as good as mine :-)
