Pros: Good graphics, good gameplay mechanism, great footballing fun all round!
Cons: Slightly frustrating at times, some annoying niggles that spoil the overall fun.
The Bottom Line: Buy this game if your a football fan, buy this is your a sports fan, do not buy this if you do not like sport, Simple really.

Ahh yes the electronic Football arguement, almost as old as the game itself.
Thing is football games have always got off in the press as rubbish, quite simply because the vast majority are.
Its seems very hard to find one that doesnt involve awkward camera angles, horrible movements or seemingly impossible actions.
Fifa 2002 however was an example of a Football game done right and the World cup version of this keeps this flow.
Lets get one thing straight though its by no means perfect in fact in some senses its flawed, but its the best football game your going to find without playing it out on the field.
Theres a much nicer interface as soon as you get into the game, gets you in the mod to conquer the world with your team.
England is my case, nice little list of player names and stats here.
Everything is authenticated from the real world cup 2002, except for that you hardly get the surprises we did have, I.e France and Argentina almost always get through the group stages.
Graphics: Graphically the game is hard to fault, theyre crsip and clear and pleasant to the eye,player movements feel right and the dynamics are good. The interface also looks graphically nicer with more vibrant colours, not that that affects the game in any way.
Sound: Sounds are almost the same from Fifa 2002, with the usual shouting 'here' or 'i'm with you I'm with you' from your team mates. There are some silly little flaws here, Once I was playing a game between Germany and Saudi Arabia and the fans were chanting, 'ENGLAND, ENGLAND'. Throughout the game things like this will grow to be annoying, because it sounds so silly when two unrelated teams are playing the fans are still singing England songs.
Gameplay: The game play is still probably the best of any football game out there, solid passes, semi realistic shots and good ball physics make this game stand out. Although it can seem a little unrealistic at times when shots are controlled so acurately, but I guess otherwise it would become very tedious, never the less its nothing short of thrilling to weave your player round the argentinian defence tackle the defender and slam a ball home, which I might add are now signalled by a comet like trial whenever a ball is hit incredibly hard. Great stuff! There is also a lot of replay value in this game as you will want to play as the underdogs in each group, and then go back to your side and thrash the opposition 5-1 in munich.
Options: There are plenty of options to keep this game going, Mostly the diffculty setting, although I found this a slight flaw as Beginner is so easy I managed to beat Brazil 11-0 with Saudi Arabia and Proffessional is so hard I found it hard to draw to Turkey with Brazil after 4 tries. Amatuer is the in between one and still does seem tough enough, and I havent even dared to try World class yet, I expect 12-0 losses from that though. You can have a choice of Japanese and Korean stadiums, day or night times, and all sorts of minor details such as passing aids and offside rules
Theres lots of room for modification in Team formations too, you can change your players, add subs change to a defensive move, push forward more attackers, anything you want to do that you think will help you be world champions.
You should also find it runs well on low spec machines, anything above the 500 mhz marker with 128 ram should do the trick fine, dont worry about needing a Uber' machine for this game.
annoyingly easy on Beginner, frustratingly hard on professional, but still the best footie game around, if youre a fan of the game or any sports game, pick up a copy of this, maybe when its a tiny bit cheaper then full price, you shouldnt be too disapointed.
