I don't think I ever seen a good description Portuguese cheeses until this one. Great job!
I've found the Serra da Estrela cheese in Bread in Circus in Cambridge, MA.
Now I wanna be back in Portugal!

Actually, I did live in San Jose and Santa Clara, California for a while :)
My father lives there...but I haven't been out that way in years.

When I hear the word cheese, I usually think of Wisconsin, not Portugal. I never knew the Portuguese were so prolific in their manufacture of cheeses. Very Informative review!

. . . robust Portuguese community while I was growing up in Fall River, Mass.
Even my Irish Grandmothers would serve one on special occasions.

Thanks for a well written and informative Epinion! I love cheese and I'll definitely make a point to try these once I get back to the States and can find them. Of course, if I ever make it to Portugal, it sounds like I'd be in my version of culinary heaven.
