Pros: Great web site, good customer service
Cons: Declining phone service quality
The Bottom Line: I'm leaving because of the poor call quality. I like all other aspects- but I use the service, and I need calls to go through.

| j_cherry's Full Review: AT&T Mobile Phone Service in Chicago |
I've been an AT&T customer for 3 years, and I have two close friends who also have AT&T. For the first 2 years, the service was great. The customer service has always been helpful and knowledgeable. The web site is also great, you can pay your bills, see how many minutes you've used (updated daily), get phone instructions, send text messages and emails, update your phone plan and enable more features, etc etc.
The place where AT&T is going downhill is their phone service. I've had more and more problems with bad phone quality- poor sound, cutting in and out, bad echoes- and I have a digital phone (Nokia 8260). There are many times when all I get is beeps and my calls won't go through. This never happened the first 2 years I had my service.
My two friends have both had problems with their service. One was able to make calls from his home (north side of Chicago) for a few months, then he started to not get any service. He has to go 3 blocks away before he can get a signal. The other person has been having major difficulty getting calls to go through, he always has to try 2 or 3 times. He's also been having trouble receiving text messages- and I know it's not his phone, mine has been abused much more.
I am now evaluating other carriers, as it's time to switch- the service has declined that much. AT&T even has some very competitive plans, but unless the service is much better than it now is I have to choose another provider.
