how to avoid loosing your child

The Bottom Line Leashes on our little ones it's a safety thing

Buy a harness. They come in several styles and prices. Some are simple straps that go around a child and attach to a leash. My favorite is a vest that zips up the back, its made of a washable light nylon fabric, but it is very strong and very hard for a child to wiggle out of.
When I first seen one of these contraptions, I thought what kind of parent ties their child up like a dog? Then we were on vacation with my two year old son. We stopped at a waterfall and went into the gift shop. I thought my husband had my son, he thought I had him. We were frantic looking through the store then out and down the river bank. Luckily for us a man had caught my son trying to run across the street and back to our car. He was safely sitting on a bench with my son. We were extremely lucky so much could have happened to our precious son. After that I never went shopping let alone on a vacation without a harness and leash. I tried one that was just a strap that velcro's on the child and parents hand with a spiral plastic cord linking them together, but I found it was to easy for a child to get out of. The vests aren't as easy to find and run about $10- $15 while the chest strap and wrist straps versions can run from $1.00 up but the vest is well worth the price any dog leash works well with them.
