| ten4life's Full Review: Toshiba Satellite P25-S507 (PSP20U-00VY3V) PC Note... |
The Toshiba P25 series of laptops have ushered in a relatively new a era in regards to laptops. Anyone that knows Laptops has surely heard the name Toshiba more than a few times. I was no exception. I owned a Dell Inspiron before I bought my new Toshiba P25. The switch was quite dramatic in the sense that I was moving from a 15 inch screen to a 17 inch widescreen. The P25 series is what I like to call a desktop killer, because it does exactly that. It can handily replace the computer sitting on your desk without breaking a sweat with built in Harmon/Kardon speakers, DVD-R, CD-R/RW, great sound and graphics cards, decent memory all around and comparitevely great value for the money. You would be hard pressed to find an HP laptop with all the same features for a price withing $200 difference of the Toshiba unit. As of right now Dell doesn't even offer a 17 inch screen, and Gateways versions with the same options cost nearly as much as an Apple 17 inch laptop. For me the binding thought was "How do I let go of the incredible durability of a Dell?" This is not to say that the Toshiba is not durable, because it is. Let's face it, when it comes to computers, no matter what you buy or how much you spend on it, you are going to come across problems. At the same time some manufacturers have less problems than others. You can find Toshiba laptops on the latter part of that scale. Ofcourse with a huge screen, and built in everything, carrying around your new portable warner bros. studio can pose a sure workout for your shoulders, but unless you plan to spend about a thousand dollars more for a 17 inch apple laptop which is also much lighter, then buyers in this segment have to expect the extra load. It's all well worth it if high performance is what you're looking for without having to take a third mortgage on your house. Going on 3 months with the Toshiba after switching from a very dependable Dell, I'm not looking back.
