| cfo8's Full Review: ADP PC/Payroll for Windows |
I have worked in the payroll industry for 15 years and can tell you without hesitation that ADP is by far the best payroll service available. The company I work for today has about 220 employees in 3 plants in Indiana and Ohio. We are considered to be a major account by ADP (50-999 employees). We currently use their web-based payroll/HR (Payexpert) and are considering their web-based time and attendance system (Ezlabor manager).
Many of the opinions listed are valid - if your review is from 2-3 years ago. Since 2002, ADP has made significant investments in the client services department and their customer satisfaction levels increased dramatically. Just ask them - Our sales rep showed us actual scores from client surveys and graphs that outlined number of service phone calls, how quickly they were answered and on-hold times.
Their client-server applications are by far the easiest, and most stable available. The internet applications (which we recently upgraded to at no cost) includes additional levels of security that other payroll providers have never even heard of!
I've worked with Paychex, Ceridian and some local providers in the Midwest and in fact, switched our company payroll from ADP to a company called ECI. They were about 40% cheaper... It didn't take long to find out why! Many of these smaller providers contract with 3rd party vendors and sell their products. The problem is that they don't own any rights to the software and therefore cannot help with any technical questions. The other problem is that they only have one person that services your account - it sounded great in the presentation (personal service). The problem is that when this person is on vacation, sick, working with another client, etc. we were left waiting, sometimes for days. Needless to say, we switched back to ADP within 3 months. The ADP rep told us we'd be back, and he was right! He said that 70% of his lost business returns back to him, which is why ADP retains lost client data for over a year.
While ADP makes some mistakes and costs a bit more than the others (except Ceridian), there's a reason why they're the biggest and the best. If you've used ADP in the past or are considering them now - You can't go wrong. They continue to add terrific services at no additional costs (employee access to info online, paycards, HR assistance)Their sales people set proper expectations and do an awesome job of understanding your needs prior to making their recommendations. Their sales force is second to none - they're ethical and know their business. Which is less than I can say for some of the others.
