Getting the most out of your WOT

The Bottom Line The WOT is the most powerful feature of this site, and when used effectively can mean the difference between pennies and dollars.
I have been with Epinions over a year now, and have over a hundred reviews. More than some here in the same length of time, still less than others. However, when I first arrived here at Epinions.com I was such a newbie to the do's and don'ts. I should have read some reviews concerning the site and how it operates, yet I just dove right in and started writing. You could tell in the reviews and you could tell in how I did things.
One of the wrong things that I did was starting to trust people for really no reason at all. Advisors galore was on my list, not that I had READ their reviews or even AGREED with them, but I put them on their because they were advisors and I thought that they were supposed to be on everyone's WOT. Today I have really few people on my WOT. Their are many people that I enjoy reading but I don't have on my WOT. I have only included people that I really go out of my way to read and rate, people that really spark an interest in me and make me want to go and buy the product or at least find out more about it, or that touch my soul with either laughter or sadness.
I thought that the more that I wrote the more people would trust me. WRONG! Only after I slowed writing and started actually becoming an active reader did that happen. I started rating for hours on end, leaving comments which I had not done before, and thinking to myself that these people were really something. Using the read it/rate it/comment on it philosophy I have now boosted the amount of reviews that trust me to 174 at this writing. 30 of them in March alone. That really makes me happy and proud and makes me want to do better and stay longer on the site. Mainly cause I feel like I "owe" it to the people that have decided to trust me.
The WOT is a wonderful thing when you go about it right. Don't trust people cause you think you should, trust cause you feel it within you. Be all that you want to the people that trust you, they are the ones with the power.
