| giantrobot2k2's Full Review: Sony TR2A NB PM/1000C 512MB 40 GB DVD CDRW 10.6 TF... |
I spent the last couple years eyeing various notebooks, looking for one that was thin and lightweight, had solid battery life, and had enough power to handle most things I'd like to do on a PC. I wasn't looking for a desktop replacement, but I wanted something that could reliably run almost any application, let me wirelessly access web and e-mail, and, last of all, looked cool.
I considered some other models by Dell and Fujitsu, but finally tried out and bout the TR2A. I haven't looked back with any regrets. After about a month of use, I love my new notebook.
It weighs about 3 lbs, has a built-in CD-RW/DVD drive, 40GB of storage, and 512 MB RAM. Performance is very good, and the battery has held up well so far. Various reviews of the notebook say it can last 5+ hours, but I've yet to truly test it out. I've used it for 2-3 hours easily without even coming close to running low on juice.
The only drawback I can see for some users would be that the screen is a little small. I wanted a small notebook, so the screen is fine for me, but I imagine some people might want more screenspace. The screen itself is very crisp and bright, which isn't surprising, coming from Sony.
This notebook might not be right for someone wanting a powerhouse desktop replacement, but if you want something very portable, light, yet powerful, it's a great choice.
