The Bottom Line As Van Halen would say, "Gimme summore uh that big fat money!." I hate that song.

While I'm sure that most of you reading this are intellectual people who like to voice their opinions over the world wide web, I think we can all admit to one simple thing:

We're here for the money.

The money from Epinions is what keeps most of its users on it, although you must be careful to note several things:

1. You are making no where near enough money to pay your phone bill.

2. Even if you indeed are a better critic than Gene Shallet and/or Roger Ebert, you're never going to hit the big time around here.

However, I have discovered several ways of milking this cash cow for all she's worth, and I think I'll share a few of those methods with you. So, without further ado to those who want to know how to bring home the bacon, here we go:

NOTE: This list of strategies assumes you are only surfing Epinions for money. If you want a more creative, less material life style, look elsewhere. Anywhere. Just look the other way, all right?

1. Write about new or popular things. These will get you the most hits and therefore more money. Avoid writing about products and services that are several years old and/or nostalgic (for instance, Doom is not a game anyone cares about anymore).

2. Be thorough. That "Very Helpful" rating is all but yours if you can convince the reader that you know your stuff. And more VHs means more money, and a higher spot on the list of opinions on the given product. No one looks at the "Not Helpfuls."

3. Surf through the new opinions and stop by to give people Helpfuls and Very Helpfuls. If you have no conscience or sense of right and wrong, you could even give bad reviews a Very Helpful.

Why would you do such a psychotic thing? Money, stupid! If you give somebody a VH, they'll wonder who the heck you are, and surf on over to your opinions. Ka-ching. They may even Trust you, improving the notion that you are a respected community member. Politics is important around here. Make a lot of friends, and they'll keep coming back to see you again.

4. Post stuff in the "Comments about Epinions" area. You'll get a lot of hits.

5. As always, write skillfully and truthfully. The quality of your reviews is important if you want repeat visitors to your opinions.

All right. Now that you know I'm a money-hungry entrepreneur/dirty, stinking rat, I'll leave you be to think about all this. DISCLAIMER: Coming to Epinions just for the money is short-sighted and a waste of time. Enjoy yourself during your stay.
