First, I'm a trackball person. The world is divided into 80% regular optical or cordless mouse users and 20% other. Well, I fall into that other category and I love using trackballs.
To me they are much easier to use and require less movement than a traditional mouse. I have two one a the office and one at home. At the house I use a Kensington Orbit Optical Trackball and the Kensington Orbit at the office. They are especially effective at the office because they keep others off of your PC. I love watching someone sit down and try to find a data-point in one of my spreadsheets using my trackball. It's like watching a liberal trying to make a point, it just doesn't work.
I also game on-line from time to time. Mostly 1st person 3D, Unreal, Castle Wolfenstein, Half-Life... I can honestly say I have mastered many moves that joystick or regular mouse users cannot make.
Not once have I experienced hand fatigue or soreness from extended use. If you've never tried one, warning, it will take at least a week or so to get used to. I do recommend this model for trackball users.
