| nvweb's Full Review: Datarealm Internet Services |
My sites were hosted with Data Realm for over seven years and over that time I referred close to two dozen customers to them. They weren't the cheapest service and their mail servers could be pretty flaky, but in the beginning they were responsive and flexible.
But starting in the Fall of 2002, I began being outrageously over-billed because of the way they set up eight related accounts (they only gave us the bandwidth quota of one of them). When I contested the extraordinary charges (over $1400 for an $90/year service) they said that their billing was fully automatic and it wasn't worth their time or effort to correct mistakes or have anyone periodically review unusual billing charges. They've obviously slashed their operation to cut corners. I'm not sure what they do from their Philadelphia office. Support is now an Arizona phone number, billing is a Wisconsin P.O Box. Why use an overpriced host when there's no one minding the store? This is not the Data Realm I used to know.
My new host has much better prices, a more sophisticated interface, and can handle our eight websites as one easy-to-track account.
