When I opened my birthday gifts yesterday, I had no idea that one of my gifts was going to take me straight from being “Plain Old MumMumMum” to being “Cool Mum of Grades Pre-K, 3, and 7”! Who knew that the stylish, stainless steel charm bracelet, filled with loving charms from my children, is the same hot-ticket item that everyone from Paris Hilton to Hilary Duff to Missy Elliot is wearing? So it came as a pretty big surprise to me when I started receiving compliments left and right from people regarding my fashionable Zoppini charm bracelet.
What is a Zoppini Charm Bracelet? Well, in 1995 two brothers, Mauro and Manuel Zoppini launched the Zoppini line in Florence, Italy. In 1998 Jonathan Ponsard introduced Zoppini to the US market. Zoppini modular charm bracelets are available in 18K gold and stainless steel, in small, medium, and large sizes. They’re modular charm bracelets made up of handcrafted, interchangeable links. The bracelets stretch to fit over your hand, which makes it very easy to take them on and off. You start off with a starter bracelet made up of the basic stainless or gold links and personalize it just the way you want, one charm at a time, or several at once. The choice is yours! There are over 1500 different Zoppini charms, in a huge range of styles, from soccer to dogs, from gemstones to zodiac signs. One of the best things about these bracelets is that as you remove a link and add a charm, you save the links until you have enough to make…. you got it…another bracelet! Then you can start the cycle all over again! Another great feature of these bracelets is that you can customize them to be stylish, sophisticated, fun or funky! The wide variety of charms appeals to any age group, to any fashion sensibility. These bracelets can be fun with dogs and cats and soccer balls and rainbows, or they can be filled with gemstones and birthstones, or even just your favourite colour!
So what you do is start off with the basic starter bracelet. Measure around the wrist where you want it to fit, and decide if you want it loose or snug. And if you’re buying for someone else as a gift, get it a little larger! If there are extra links they can be removed and then the next bracelet has a head start! Now, I don’t know the exact prices because this was a gift, and being Canadian my prices will be different than US prices, but I believe my medium stainless steel starter bracelet was $15Cdn. The starter bracelets range in sizes from approximately six and a quarter inches to eight inches, from approximately sixteen links to twenty-one links. Then you start removing links and adding charms in their places. My bracelet has a smiley sunshine, a blue and yellow butterfly, an I (heart) U, MOM, a Canadian flag, and a soccer ball charm. So far! I have a feeling more will be added on Christmas! There are several seasonal charms to choose from as well, snowmen and Santas and Christmas trees among other items. And as more charms are added and I have more links to join for the next bracelet, my eight-year-old SoccerGirl will unknowingly be creating a Zoppini bracelet for herself for next year!
I was a little worried about the bracelet at first since I have extremely sensitive skin and a lot of allergies to many different metals. I have worn my stainless steel bracelet for 24 hours now and I haven’t had even the hint of a rash or a hive. I will warn you now though, I have all Zoppini charms, and authentic Zoppini charms are stamped on the back with their logo. I cannot vouch for the quality or durability of other charms which state they “fit Italian Charms” or are “gold plated”. The imitation charms are plentiful, but if you want to be sure of the quality, I’d suggest staying with Zoppini.
I really love my bracelet! I can myself wearing it for any occasion, fancy or fun. It’s a bracelet that is sure to bring me a lot of memories every time I wear it. I highly recommend the Zoppini Italian Charm Bracelet as a gift suggestion for anyone, no matter how young or old. My eight-year-old would absolutely love one as much as I already love mine!
