| Jmlsammy's Full Review: NEC MultiSync E950 Monitor |
The NEC MultiSync FE950 is one great monitor. It supports high resolutions and the image quality is fantastic.
So what comes in the box?
Well you get the power cord, the user's manual & the Monitor with a tilt/swivel base. (If you need to use this with a Macintosh computer you can call NEC at (800) 820-1230 for a free one.)
Setup was easy, just plug it all up and your set. Windows detects the monitor and sets up the plug-n-play monitor files for you the next time you start your computer. Be careful, the monitor is a bit heavy, you might need some help to lift this baby.
How big is it?
This monitor measures up to: 17.4 (w) x 18.0 (h) x 17.6 (depth), and it weighs at 53.6 pounds. Make sure you've got enough space on your desk!
So what does it do?
The resolution goes all the way up to 1792x1344 @ 68hz.
Just so you know this is not the recommended resolution, NEC and myself recommend 1280x1024 @ 85hz. The images are very vibrant and the color quality is exellent. The flat screen really does cut down on the amount of glare you see as well.
So what are it's features?
Flat Aperture Grill screen
OptiClear Screen Surface- Reduces reflection & glare
Dual Dynamic Beam Focus- Precise focus adjustments
AccuColor Control System- Choose between five color settings
OSM (On Screen Manager)- Adjust the monitor settings onscreen
ErgoDesign Features
Plug and Play
Intelligent Power System
Reduced Magnetic Field Technology
Multiple Frequency Technology
FullScan Capability
GlobalSync- Allows for corner adjustments
AutoAdjust- Automatically adjusts the monitor screen size
Convergence Control
How does the OSM work?
The on screen manager works just fine. The controls are placed just where you need them with no fancy manuvers required. New users may be confused by how many different control options there are and what they do. Reading the manual will give you all the essental information. Adjusting the monitor is easy but can be a bit time consuming. The monitor remembers your settings for each resolution and refresh rate so you won't have to adjust again. One cool thing about the front of the monitor is that the NEC MultiSync logo lights up on the front of the monitor and shows its status- green for on and orange for standby.
So what about the warranty?
NEC's Limited Warranty-
Spare parts are warranted for 90 days from the date of purchase. The monitor itself is covered for 3 years for defects. Damages resulting from improper usage or accidents are not covered.
Would I recommend this monitor?
Well yeah, but if I were you always make sure you like it before you buy? CompUSA carries them.
