Hotel du Cadran

Written: Dec 22 '03 (Updated Dec 22 '03)
Pros:Location, location, location.
Cons:Smallish rooms, but you are always out sight-seeing anyway. Who needs a big room?
The Bottom Line: I would stay in this hotel again based on our visit three years ago, provided prices have been kept reasonable. The area is FANTASTIC and quiet.

We stayed at the du Cadran three years ago. I've heard there has been a refurbishing since that date. At the time, the price was exceptionally reasonable. The decor was quite nice even before the refurbishing. As with most boutique hotels in Paris, the room was small but very clean. The bathroom was not tiny, yet not what I would qualify as large either. We had a partial view of the Eiffel Tower from our room as a bonus. Other rooms are said to have full or unobstructed views of the la Tour Eiffel. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. There is a small elevator which is the status quo for Paris, meaning one person and a couple of bags at a time is the max it will hold.

The area alone qualifies this hotel for a visit. The Rue Cler area, where the hotel is located, is a genuine Parisian neighborhood where you feel as though you are living as the French themselves live. There are abundant restaurants and shops. The metro station is less than a block away. The neighborhood also has a post office and bank within that same block. The tiny neighborhood has numerous gourmet shops and one of the most beautiful outdoor markets in all of Paris. Couple all of this with the Eiffel Tower, Rodin museum, the Seine, and Les Invalides within a four block radius and this area is near perfection.

Hotel du Cadran is a great choice for a boutique hotel in Paris.
