I've been doin drugs now for about 3 years and everything that the writer wrote was surprisingly true. They got everything right from the names down to what happens to ya when you do the drug. Being in this "business" now for a while you learn new things and experience a lot. From what i've been through the writer hit the details right on.

Thankyou so much for the article....VERY HELPFUL!
I do have teenagers and friends with teens and I was looking for the street name "skittles" for a friend who has a teen possibly using.

What it is and its symptoms?....Thanx though all of the other info is helpful as well! :)

BTW, not that anyone will see this comment, but Ecstasy (not Extasy) is not the date rape drug. That's a different drug, entirely.

Sorry about the shouting. I just wanted to make it perfectly clear that lying to your teenager, even with government-approved lies, is one of the ways to lose their respect.

If you've lost respect, you've lost everything (IMHO).

It was hard to hear what you are trying to say Art, your ego was roaring way too loud.

I work with teens and one of the newest fads is trading meds used for ADD/ADHD, this stuff is being passed around on playgrounds where we live like candy. Your epinion was excellent, pretty scary isn't it?

that you believe everything you hear from your Citizen's Police Academy, or LAPD.

Let me note a few errors.

Ecstasy

MDMA is an abbreviation for the chemical name -- it's not exactly slang. Furthermore, it is NOT a stimulant or a hallucinogen. It has been associated with deaths from heat stroke, however. You also wrote: the drug will make a person grind their teeth. I'd never heard that; I think it possible, but unlikely. I took it once during the short period of time it was available by prescription. I've also seen much of the real literature on the drug, and I don't know why it's not still available by prescription.

I can neither confirm or deny your comments on GHB or Special K. I can confirm your comments on Rohypnol.

Most of what you say about cocaine is probably correct; although you should note that most of the drugs in the non-cocaine section are available by prescription.

PHENCYCLIDINE. I can't confirm or deny, but you gave it the same name as the real name of Special K. Is it the same drug?

Hallucinogens. mescaline and Peyote are not trade names, they're accepted descriptive names for those particular hallucinogen. I also don't know of death occurring from any hallucinogen other than (accidental or intentional) suicide -- such as believing one can fly, and jumping out a 10th story window.

Cannabis. There are no overdose symptoms of cannabis -- and it's hard to say that paranoia is a symptom, when, you, among others, really are out to get them.

Narcotics. You again, forgot to mention that many of these are available by prescription.

You also forgot to mention the two most misused drugs, because they are legal for adults -- alcohol and tobacco.

I'm still rating this Helpful, because, if you have teenage children, you should be aware of these drugs. However, most of them are not as dangerous as stated.

I have two teens and they are boys. I know about the drugs you listed and I'm glad to see that you posted a review to bring parents and kids to the awearness of these drugs. The drug Extasy is also know to kids and adults as the "date rape drug". people will put this into your drinks and then when you are NOT able to know what you are doing they will then rape you and you might not even remember what happend the next morning.
I also watched two show's on this the other day one on 60 MIN and the other on 48HRs.

The Soap Opera Young and the Restless is having a piece about this drug extasy and how it has killed a student and made several others very sick. This is something serious going on right now and I hope parents and teens check into this drug and others like it.

thanks
