I researched A/V Receivers and made a decision about which one I wanted. I could not find it in the local stores, so I turned to the internet. Now it got tough for me as I knew nothing of the different sellers of the receiver I wanted. After researching the different companies, I finally decided to try My Digital Universe.
The My Digital Universe Web Site was easy to navigate. Clicking "Policy" yielded information that was clearly stated and easy to understand. Clicking "Contact" showed the hours of operation, telephones numbers, and mailing and shipping location. Also was an E-mail form to contact them or to ask questions. The "Shipping" information was clearly stated. This made me feel they were not hiding anything and were freely telling everything about themselves.
The shopping was located under "Directory". In Directory, the organization was by equipment (DVD, VCR, Audio, etc). Under the equipment were the Brands. For example, I was interested in a Yamaha Receiver so under Audio I chose Yamaha and got a list of 21 Yamaha Receivers. I knew the one I wanted and chose it and went to a screen for that model where the basic technical data was listed as well as the price and extended warranty options. I chose "Buy Now" and was sent to the Order Screen where I put in my Zip Code and obtained the shipping the total costs. The shipping charges were about the same as all the other on-line sellers. I then submitted the order and entered my address and payment method.
I placed the order in the morning. Within minutes I received an E-mail that confirmed the order and was given a six digit Order Number. Sometimes a Seller will send a follow-up E-mail instructing you to telephone to confirm your address or payment method and it turns out to be a sales pitch for the extended warranty. Not My Digital Universe. There was no such call; thus, no hassles.
Usually the on-line merchants I deal with send a lot of E-mails. They tell me they received the order, then later that it is preparing to ship, then next it
.. etc. This is good as it builds confidence in the buyer. However, the one E-mail from My Digital Universe was also the last E-mail they sent. Unusual, for me, but that was not a bad thing.
Later that day I visited My Digital Universes Web Site. At the bottom of the page was an Icon for tracking an order. I clicked it and entered the six digit Order Number and found that the receiver was shipped with UPS. They shipped it in a matter of hours. I followed it across country, via their Web Site, right to my door. The total time to arrive was 8 days. I found this satisfactory for having to come cross country by UPS ground (least expensive method).
They demonstrated very fast, smooth and efficient service with minimal contact, and no hassles. I summarize the experience as clear and simple, smooth and silent. I will do business with My Digital Universe again, with confidence.
