Not Worth It!

Pros: Good concept
Cons: Doesn't work, poor frequency, switches frequency while songs shuffle, doesn't fit with iSkins.
The Bottom Line: It is NOT worth the frustration! You will constantly be battling with this piece of junk trying to get it to work!

I bought my iPod in October. The main place I listen to music is my car, and since I don't have a tape deck in it, I went the iTrip route. It took a little over a month to arrive (they evidentely aren't making them as quickly as people are ordering them). After having it for a week, I was ready to throw it out my window, but I thought I'd give it a chance. Here are my many problems with it:
1. Upon purchasing my iPod, I also bought as iSkin to protect the silver backing from getting scratched. That was a waste of $30 since you can't plug in the iTrip with an iSkin on the 'Pod.
2. The instruction manual is useless. It doesn't explain how to get the thing set up. I finally figured it out after a lot of guesswork.
3. Even though I got the newest version, I wasn't able to use it with iTunes. The program wouldn't work until I installed MusicMatch (I use Windows), which I hate. I figured out how to switch it over to iTunes, but it was a hassle.
4. OK, now let's get to the part where I actually use the thing. I synced it with a radio station, and it came in horribly, so I switched to another. Although it was slightly more clear, there was still a bit of static. Also, when I entered different towns, the reception would get worse. And believe me, it was *very* difficult to switch frequencies while driving - I'm lucky my car isn't totaled.
5. By now, I was ready to throw the thing directly into the garbage, but I had a friend play with it. Well, he got it working great. I had all my songs on shuffle, but all my iTrip frequencies were among the mix, so everytime it played one, we would lose frequency.
The iTrip is a great concept, but it still needs A LOT of work.
Me? I'm going to Best Buy on Monday and getting a new car stereo that has a tape deck just so I can listen to my iPod music in my car.
