Snap N Go -- Nice to Have A Lighter Stroller For Your Baby

  • User Rating: Excellent
  • Durability:
  • Ease of Use:
Pros:Lighter, durable stroller frame, works with your car seat and takes up less room.
Cons:Not good for heavy walking on rocky terrain
The Bottom Line: The Snap N Go saves space and is light, but most important, it's a safe way to get baby out of the car and get strolling.

The Baby Trend Snap N Go is another interesting contraption dreamed up for the parents of newborns. It helps to solve a problem that I am now acutely aware of -- the size, weight and mass of baby accoutrement.

My wife and I decided on the Graco Travel System for our carseat and stroller combination. It's a good choice -- sturdy and well built. But this sturdiness has a price, as it's pretty heavy at over 20 pounds. The stroller part also takes up a whole lot of space (about half the available room) in the back of our car.

We also don't need the bigger stroller when we are out for short walks or just running to the store. We thought, "There has to be a better way." Turns out there is. Snap N Go has created a system that will take your car seat and substitute a smaller lighter frame (about 10 pounds) for your bigger one. You can then store the other model in the garage or in your house and take it out for when you really need it, and place the little one in the back of the car, where it takes up substantially less space.

The Snap N Go is solid, with aluminum tubing. It folds compact for storage or travel. The undercarriage is secured to a frame with the standard drink holder that you'll find in other strollers. The bottom of the frame has substantial storage in a mesh cargo bag. I've put several bags of groceries in here (gallons of milk, etc) so I know that it's a pretty heavy duty contraption. The Snap N Go has light, plastic wheels. The front wheels are double and the rear wheels have brake locks. Although the wheels are not the size of the wheels on the Graco, they do seem pretty durable.

The rest of the frame is empty space. Don't worry... it's supposed to be. That's where you insert the car seat, similar to the way it inserts in the other stroller base.

Installation is easy. First, you open the frame and insert the drink tray and wheels. They you refer to the instructions book to see how you'll need to configure your Snap N Go. If you use anything but a Baby Trends model car seat, you're going to need to remove the BT Bar from the frame. Simply go to the table in the book and find the following for your model:

Snap Bar Angle
Snap Bar Position
SNG Depth Position

This can be done in about ten minutes and only requires a phillips screwdriver, wrench and you.

After you do this, you can fit your car seat into the Snap N Go frame. If you've installed it correctly, it will click, similar to when you place it in the car seat base od the regular stroller. NOTE: It is very important to put your car seat's elastic bands into the Snap N Go's holders. You MUST also use the Snap N Go's belts to cinch the car seat into position.

To pop the stroller up from it's folded position, all you need to do is hold the red button on the frame down. The body then unfolds to the ground. To fold for storage, remove the car seat, and then push the red button the right while twisting the red handle. The body then collapses, and you can pick it up. These actions are very similar to the collapse and fold mechanisms on your regular stroller systems.

We bought the Snap N Go at Toys R Us for $60.00. It's a lifesaver, and I heartily recommend it.
