Opinion Summary
Newegg.com; great selection, delivery, prices and service!

Overall, newegg.com simply rocks! I recently went on a excursion to upgrade my DIY computer after getting into overclocking. I would not recommend this to anyone that does not have time and money to play around, as once you start you are ...

First Time Shopper - Awful Experience (Reply to this comment)
by passenger57
I ordered a Radeon 6970 graphics card from Newegg last Saturday. When I placed my order, their site said it would take 2-3 business days to receive.

When I checked the order status Wednesday morning, my order was still in "Order Verification." Mario with their live customer support said "Our relevant department need to manual verify the order with your card-issuing bank for security reasons. Unfortunately, we are updating our system and most of orders are delayed currently. The package should be delivered on next Monday or Tuesday." I ordered a single item for $389.99.

On Wednesday (the third business day after the order was placed), I asked when Newegg contacted my bank to verify the transaction's legitimacy. Mario stated "We will contact your bank today, and package should be shipped out by today or tomorrow."

When I asked if they would ship the item overnight at no cost for the inconvenience as this was the first time I had done business with them and would not likely do so again, I was told "We cannot modify it. But we can cancel it for you. I would like to honor $10 Newegg gift card for you." This contradicts what their website stated as the definition of "Order Verification":

Order verification and payment processing. Changes may be made to an order during this step and up to when the credit card is charged.

I talked Mario into refunding my credit card the $10 in lieu of the gift card (a 2.5% discount, what an insult!) however he stated "Please contact me back at xxx@newegg.com with the order # once the package is shipped out.

It’s clear that building long-term customer relationships is not part of Newegg’s strategy. If I could find the item on another site I would have purchased it elsewhere (I checked Amazon, Best Buy, Fry’s, and Micro Center and no one had the item.). Newegg got the sale but at what cost?

Prior to ending our live chat, Mario said “I want to invite you to take our Customer Satisfaction Survey to let me know how I did today. We want to make sure every customer has a chance to voice their opinion of our service. To take the survey, all you have to do is click the "Exit" button at the top of the chat window. Thank you for contacting Newegg. I hope you have an Eggcellent day!”

I thought great! I can give them feedback on their awful service. The joke was on me though, the exit button didn’t work.

No cancelation in less than 7 minutes of placing order! (Reply to this comment)

Over the weekend, I tried to cancel my online order for a camera (to change to a different model) within 7 minutes of placing the order. I recieved an email shortly after that the item is already in shipping department and can not be stopped! They said my only option is to refuse its delivery. However since this is a "special" sale item it can not be returned for refund or replacement! So I am now stuck with a camera I do not want. I, for one, will never deal with Newegg.com.

Do NOT deal with Newegg (Reply to this comment)

I ordered a linksys range expander from Newegg. It arrived in three days but proved to be defective. An RMA was issued, the WRE45G was sent and recieved by Newegg. So far so good. Keeping in mind that their return/refund/exchange policy for this item is 30 days, I was not so pleased when it took seemingly ages to get a replacement back. They said they shipped it, but UPS didn't receive the new item for 4 days after that date. The result? I did not have the product for a total of 17 days out of the 30 day correction period. The problem? Newegg is not cooperative about extending the refund period! I was thinking of ordering a net book from them. Definately will not do business with them again.

Consistently the best computer parts vendor I've ever bought from. I ordered the parts for my new rig at 9AM PST, by 3PM everything had been shipped and was sitting on my porch 2 days later. Bam.

Only had to RMA something once (got two bad Netgear GS108 switches), but that was smoooth as well, had a RMA number and shipping label the same day.

Very satisfied.

After ordering "in stock" items at newegg and a competitor using the same credit card and shipping info, the competitor has shipped AND DELIVERED the items and newegg hasn't even shipped the order yet! I ordered most items from newegg based on their reputation, and ordered something that they didn't have from the competitor. BIG MISTAKE! I should have ordered everything from the little guy! Like others have said, what's the point of overnight shipping if they are so slow to ship?

I too had a major problem with NewEgg.com. Twice a ordered a new Nikon D80 body and twice they sent me a refurbished/reconditioned body. They claimed the first was a rare fluke and promised it wouldn't happen again if I reordered. Ooops! On both because of the dual errors they offered $25 reductions on my next two purchases. The problem is I'm now afraid to order anything further from them.

Worst experience I have ever had with an online company (Reply to this comment)

I would like to say how disappointed I was with dealing with www.newegg.com first off they screwed up my order and sent me the wrong thing, I was able to quickly get an RMA and they said they would overnight the correct item once the RMA was received. With tracking and delivery confirmation my item arrived and was signed for at newegg on the 15th of Jul, I call on the 18th to confirm they got the item and tell them how important it was that I get the new one asap, I call again on wednesday to check the status of the RMA, its still in the warehouse and hasn't been processed yet, I again tell them how I must have it by Friday the 22nd. I call on Friday the 22nd and it is still at the warehouse and hasn't been processed yet. late on the 22nd i get an email stating they have processed it and it will be 3-4 business days before its sent out. WOW whats the point of overnighting something if it takes you a week and a half to send it? All in all its the worst experience I have had with an online company and I have been shopping online for over 10 years, my suggestion is spring for the extra money and shop locally or go to some other online store because newegg is not a company that you can count on.

I buy everything I can from Newegg. Sometimes they charge a little more for an item, but the security of dealing with them in worth it. And if you buy multiple items, the break on shipping more than makes up for paying a bit more for a part.

They usually get orders to St. Louis in 3 days.

I notice they have a New Jersey facility now too.

Easy to Defraud (Reply to this comment)

I recently had an episode where someone used my credit card info and ordered a $250 gift certificate from an email address at Yahoo. They had the Gift "certificate" sent to another Yahoo email address.

In my opinion it is way too easy for the malicious criminal to take advantage of an emailed gift "certificate".

Thanks for the rating and comment! I just placed another order for a case, HD and video card to create my Home Theater PC. Can't wait to get it running, and Newegg shipped it out on Sunday!
