Hotels.com - Worst Customer Care (Reply to this comment)
by julsw12
I am in the computer field and find it quite pitiful that a leading (at least in the way of advertisements) hotel reservation company is able to survive with such horrendous customer care. I booked a hotel for which I received 2 confirmations. This threw me off simply because I wondered if I would get double charged. I stayed in the hotel (that wasn't worth the money) and had issues where the hotel told me they would credit me $10 a night for inconvenience.
When I checked out of my hotel they told me I would receive a confirmation of charges from Hotels.com - I never did. I tried to write a review of my crappy hotel 3 different times and the website threw errors every time. I emailed them only to NEVER receive a reply. I finally broke down and called them. Guess what! Their website was being upgraded at 3:15pm in the afternoon! They asked me to call them back in an hour...superior customer service??
I will never again book a reservation through Hotels.com!

Booking a hotel through hotels.com (Reply to this comment)

I would not recommend hotels.com unless you do a through search for reviews on the hotel chosen. I did not do this. Consumers beware! I ended up changing my reservations after arriving in Orlando and finding that the hotel I had booked was filthy. While standing in the lobby on hold with hotels.com I overheard another guest complaining they had no phone service or running water in their room. They were told the maintenance people had gone home for the day and the problem would be fixed in the morning. Numerous other customers entered the hotel lobby while I remained on hold with hotels.com. They had also booked through hotels.com, who had gladly taken their money for reservations, but when they arrived they were told there were no rooms available. The hotel clerk said this had been happening all night. Out of desperation I ended up booking with a much more expensive hotel as not to be charged any additional fee through hotels.com. I was told there were no other hotels available in the Orlando area and didn't have access to a computer to confirm this. I had to take the representative at her word and was led to believe this could be resolved on Monday when a supervisor would be available to speak with me. I was offered $60.00 good for another booking through hotels.com. My reply to this was no thank you.

you should try quikbook.com. Everything that Hotels.com, Priceline, et al, aren't.

Doesn't it all come down to pizza delivery? I have stayed in some questionable hotels in the past, but this one blew me away. There is nothing worse than arriving to a hotel after traveling all day and not being anywhere near food - delivered or otherwise. Maybe we could have noshed on the bacteria that was certainly covering every surface in the bathroom.
Oh well!! At least the rest of the vacation went better!

Possibly the funniest line I've seen in an epinion in a while -- the only thing within walking distance is a mugging...

This one segement of your review had me laughing so hard:
""Description: This hotel blends the very best in high quality service and comfortable accommodations at reasonable prices. Each of the spacious, comfortable guest rooms is tastefully decorated and fully equipped to meet the needs of the 21st century traveler.
Reality: This hotel was in total disrepair complete with peeling wallpaper, chipped paint, dirty bathroom and smelly, stained rugs. I completely missed the "tasteful decoration" unless that referred to the chipped formica furniture. The only thing to appeal to the "21st century traveler" was basic cable. They didn't have HBO, pay per view, internet service or pizza delivery.""
Man, I'm sorry you had to deal with that blatant falsehoods but your writeup of them was classic... no pizza delivery, that right there tells you all you need to know about the neighborhood it's in / the quality of the place.
