Is it still working? (Reply to this comment)

Just curious if the TV is still working. I have had bad experiences with other products from Gateway. To be a diversified company, Gateway has jumped into waters not familiar to them. I bought a digital camera from them which proved to be crap (I wrote about it on this site). I think they just get the product from cheap manufacturers from around the world and put their name on it. Here's the link to reviews of customers who owned Gateway Plasma's till the warranty is over.

Also about the cheap Asian TVs read the review at the following link

My experience (with a cheap digital camera) proved to me that this it is always better to stick with people who know what they are doing and can back their products or services.

By the way I have a Gateway computer which is working perfectly. If anything I would buy only computers from Gateway

Hi. Sorry for the low rating. I debated on it for a while, and it's hard to explain the total reason maybe, but I'll try.

First, I didn't really feel like you told me a whole lot, at least, not much more than I might get from looking at one for five minutes. Second, I couldn't really get a good feel for the balance between your review and your rating/recommendation. It seemed like you had a lot of good things to say about it, and very few bad things. Apart from rumors anyway. No wall mount doesn't seem like a deal breaker on a TV, especially if its a really good deal. One year warranty certainly isn't the best, but then again I don't know warranties are from other companies. Rumors doesn't do much for me.

In the end, I guess I just didn't feel I could give the review a VH because though you rate the thing two stars, and don't recommend it, your review was pretty well pulling me toward feeling positively about it.

You are correct in that the company is not in the best financial shape. They are probably a little healthier than they were 12 months ago, but things could be a lot better than they are. hwz1

Gateway. (Reply to this comment)

Several months ago I read that gateway was revamping all it's stores due to slipping sales. I was in a few and I think that they need to do something about slipping customer service as well. Anyway the TV line is an attempt to keep it afloat.

I also know some people who left gateway due to the feeling that the company is in trouble. That is only their personal feelings, they never saw the article I did.

Thought you would like to know
Brett :)

You are right and I went ahead and made a few changes. The real technical stuff- I just do not understand it, so I do not include it. hwz1

I've never seen one of these in person, but I've read other reviews that weren't all that complimentary of picture quality. I guess I need to go see one. Lots of questions though. What inputs do you use, computer, cable tv, dvd player, etc? Can you get decent results with graphics and text and use a computer with this? What are the connection options? Any features like zoom? How are normal TV pictures displayed wide screen and at this monitor's resolution? Who oem's this? How good is the tuner? Did you go with the stand or wall mount? How does the wall mount work?
