Pros: Excellent Customer Service. They truly want to help.
Cons: Poor rural SE Indiana coverage area and roaming charges.
The Bottom Line: You can't beat the Customer Service. However, you need to be careful with rural coverage areas. Be prepared to pay roaming charges and long distance charges with some calling plans.

| rlitzinger's Full Review: General Reviews of Cingular Wireless Customer Serv... |
I signed up for digital service with Cellular One in June, 2000. Cellular One later merged with another wireless phone service and became Cingular. I've worked with the Customer Service Department when they were Cellular One and more recently, Cingular. I must say that they have a top-notch Customer Service organization.
My 1st Customer Service Experience - Nov, 2000: After working all week and coming home one Friday evening, my wife talked me into loading up our four kids and driving five hours to Cleveland, OH so she could visit her brother. Two hours later, we're getting dinner from a drive-thru and on our way to Cleveland.
We arrived in Cleveland a little after midnight. Since it was our first time visiting my brother-in-law and his family in their new house, my wife called him from our wireless phone and asked him for directions from I-71. While she was getting the directions, I was run off the road by another driver. We were all okay and our van was unharmed, so I kept going.
As we caught back up with the car that had run us off the road, we noticed that the driver was having great difficulty driving. My wife hung-up with her brother and called the police to report the obviously "impaired" driver. Within five minutes, the police were able to gather our location and direction from my wife to locate us. We were still following the other driver (from a safe distance) when he drove through a red light just in time for the police to see his most recent mistake. The police proceeded to stop him, offer him a safe ride and a place to sleep for the night.
We safely completed the drive to my brother-in-law's house. The next morning, I called our house to check messages. I was surprised by a call from Customer Service asking me to call them right away. When I called them, they asked if I had my wireless phone in my possession. Naturally, I told them that I had it. They apologized for the inconvenience and explained that they were afraid my wireless phone had been stolen because it had never been used in Cleveland and there had been several calls made from Cleveland the night before.
My 2nd Customer Service Experience - Jan, 2001: I called Customer Service to complain about the "spotty" coverage area around my house. I told them that I was well aware of the fact that I lived in a rural SE Indiana town, but I could no longer tolerate dropped calls and missed incoming calls. In addition, I was promised that service in my area would be improving when I signed the one year contract.
The Customer Service Rep reviewed my call history and acknowledged that there have been some problems. She apologized for the problems and offered me a better antenna for my phone at no charge. She explained that the better antenna should help my phone's reception in "fringe" areas. She also agreed to let me out of the remainder of my one year contract without any penalties if the new antenna didn't help.
Now that's customer service!
