| kld718's Full Review: CometMultiroom Disinfectant Cleanser With Bleach |
I can remember as a child, going to the supermarket and picking the Comet up in the cleaning aisle for my mother. It was something that we always had in the house and really the only thing that my mother used to clean with. So, of course as I got older and began to use it myself, I came to see how well it worked on almost every surface in the house.
When I moved out on my own, the first cleansing agent that I bought was Comet. I have since come to rely on various other brands also, but I almost always have a can of Comet underneath my sink.
For as long as I can remember, Comet as come in the same green can. The top of the can has a metal looking top and three holed for pouring out the cleanser. The cleanser itself is looks like a powdery substance. Comet is a bleach disinfectant cleanser that is supposed to disinfect and clean tough stains.
~ Ingredients ~
Sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione dihydrate
calcium carbonate, surfactants, sodium hypochlorite, sodium carbonate
Contains surfactants, contains no phosphate
~ Directions ~
You can use Comet on a lot of household surfaces, including kitchens counters, sinks, toilet bowls, bathroom tubs, porcelain, fiberglass, and stainless steel. You should not use it on painted or plastic surfaces because is an abrasive. I usually use Comet on a completely wet surface with a damp cloth, but you can also use this cleanser on dry surfaces.
You simply have to sprinkle the Comet on the wet surface that you are looking to clean and rub it with a cloth to cleanse the surface. If you have a deeply stained surface, you might want to let the Comet sit on the area for a while before wiping clean. Bathroom toilets are an example of this, and you may have to scrub the Comet into the area and then rinse it.
~*~ My Thoughts ~*~
I have to say that I love Comet. I have watched my mother use it for years, and have used it for years myself. I have never had a problem with it, or have never had to use another product with it because it wouldnt clean the various surfaces I have in my house.
Comet works on all surfaces in my house, except those that I mentioned that you should not use this product on. I have used it on all my kitchen surfaces and all my bathroom surfaces before and have never had any problems. As a disinfectant, this product wipes out most household germs including Staph, Salmonella, and Pseudomonas. That alone makes me want to continue using Comet.
I usually pick up a can of Comet when I do my grocery shopping. I remember when it used to be two for a dollar, but I now I pay around $.99-$1.99 for a 21 oz. can of this now. And for the amount of cleanser you get, for the amount of money, its definitely a bargain. If you prefer to shop online, Drugstore.com offers the 21 oz. can for $1.99. Comet is also available in a plastic container and would probably be easier to store because it has a flip-top lid that you can actually close.
As with most cleansing agents, you should always keep out of the reach of all children. This Comet does cause moderate eye irritation, so please be careful when cleaning with this powdery substance. Especially be careful when shaking this stuff out of the can. And you should never mix Comet with any other cleansing agent. You just never know what kind of science experiment you might concoct!
I definitely have to recommend Comet as a cleansing agent to have in your home for various uses. Its worked on most things for me and has never damaged any surface in my home. Comet is a cheap product, but has quality on its side.
