Pros: Decent quality while it works.
Cons: Starts to get funny after 2 years
The Bottom Line: Not a bad printer, kind of expensive, it is a little outdated now, but if you want an average printer, this is it, just get an extended waranty

| timebomb85's Full Review: Compaq IJ1200 Color Inkjet Printer |
I got my IJ1200 4 years ago with my first computer, and I have to admit, when I first got it, it worked great. It is a pretty decent size, doesn't take up much space, print fairly quick with good quality.
//Picture Quality// The picture quality on this printer was nice. The images are very clear in color, and in black and white. The pictures are not smeared and neither is text. This printer will print up anything and look just like it did on the monitor. It prints up to 5 PPM in color and 10 PPM in black and white. Todays printers are much faster, but for 2000, this was top of the line for basic printers.
//Noise// This printer makes way too much noise. When it is printing it sounds like the jeporady song, it makes so many different noises, it is just weird, and when you turn it on, it is so loud that it made me jump the first time I heard it. It doesn't sound like it's going to fall apart, but if you are printing something long, it might be annoying after awhile. It makes my dog jump up and he runs into see what is making all the racket.
//Reliability// This is the worst part. My Printer started having problems after 2 years. The first thing it started doing is making lines in the picture so the detail was awful, then after 3 years, it got worst. After 3 1/2 years it flipped out. I turned it on. And it started shaking like crazy, and the place where it prints it started moving back and forth as fast as it could, it scared me, I pressed the power button and it turned off 10 seconds later. It was jammed, but I got it unstuck.
Now it won't print in color. I still have it and it still works but it will now only print in black and white. I am getting a Lexmark Printer/copier/scanner soon, which should be better. But after 2 years I was very dissapointed with this product, and I would probally reccomend a better Lexmark, or a HP which is alot better than this one. If you are looking for affordability, and decent quality, go for lexmark, if you are looking for pure quality, I strongly suggest a HP
Good luck with your decision!
