THIS PUPPY SUCKS UP STUFF YOU NEVER KNEW WAS IN YOUR CARPET

Written: Mar 10 '01
Pros:NO MORE STUPID BAGS!!
Cons:WHAT CONS?!!
The Bottom Line: If this vacuum ever breaks, I will run out and get another just like it. It just sucks up everything!

I used to have a Eureka World Vac that was unfortunately irreversibly damaged in a basement flood. So, I trotted out to Wal-mart to find its replacement. I liked the vacuum I had before, so I looked at the Eureka models. I was just going to get another upright, but something pulled me over to the bagless section. Boy, am I glad it did!

I never thought about getting a bagless model because I thought they were too expensive. Then I saw the price and my jaw dropped to the floor. Then I saw the features and my jaw dropped THROUGH the floor.

I ended up bringing home a Eureka Whirlwind Cyclonic vacuum that day.

It took me about two minutes to get the vacuum up and running. It took longer than that to read the assembly instructions! I took it for a test drive and was totally blown away. It sucked up red glitter from a Halloween costume I wore two YEARS ago! I didn't even know it was there.

The vacuum I have has 12 amps of power, up from the miserly 8 amps my old vac had. There are, of course, no bags to empty. Emptying the dirt cup consists of taking it off, turning it upside-down over a trash can, and putting it back on. I love the HEPA filter--my asthmatic husband breathes a lot easier now. Changing the filter is really easy--pull the old one out, line up the tabs, and snap the new one into place. (I know because I just changed the filter for the first time) This vacuum has a baseboard light, which really helps when you're too lazy to move the furniture and just vacuum under it like I do. The power cord is 25 feet long and the hose with the extension can reach up to my ten foot ceilings easily.

If I were forced to list some cons, I would say that the vacuum is heavy to drag up the stairs, there is no bare floor cleaning setting, and there are only two tools with my model (an upholstery brush and a corner wand).

I truly believe that this vacuum is a gift from the cleaning gods, I've owned my Eureka for seven months now with no problems whatsoever.
