| mommy2jesse's Full Review: Orange Clean Tough Acting Degreaser Multi-Purpose ... |
I was exceptionally pleased with the result of OxiClean, so I decided to try Orange Clean. I found it on sale at a local wholesale club and came home to try it. I was pleased with its effectiveness on greasy residue, and the scent is wonderful.
The wholesale club had two bottles packaged together with plastic wrapping on sale for a little less than $7. At about $3.50 per 32 fl. oz. bottle I thought it was a pretty good deal. The spray bottle is bright orange with a green nozzle control, trigger and screw cap. The neck of the spray bottle has finger grooves for more comfort and better maneuverability. The back side of the neck has several grooves, also good for comfort. The front label is clear, except for the writing. "Orange Clean" is printed in large white letters with a green outline around them. Directly above, and to the left of the name is the phrase: "Natural orange cleaning power". To the right of that is a small, round seal about the size of a dime. In the center of the seal is an orange, and around the orange is printed: "Made with pure orange oil". Directly below the name of the product "Tough acting degreaser" is printed in yellow over a green background. Below this, "Multi-purpose cleaner" is printed in white lettering. A small, black, animated handprint is below it and to the right of the above statement.
The back label is also clear, making the directions and cautions hard to read against the bright orange bottle. At the top of the label, "Orange Clean tough acting degreaser" is restated. This is followed by the phrase: "Orange Clean combines the natural cleaning power of pure orange oil with other strong cleaning agents. It is perfect for greasy, grimy messes in your kitchen and all around your home, while leaving a lasting fresh scent of oranges!"
Below the above paragraph are four animated pictures where Orange Clan may be effective. It describes appliances, counter tops, bathrooms and range tops. Below these animated pictures is a description as to what Orange Clean is ideal for: "Kitchen appliances, counters, cabinets, floors, walls, doors, bathrooms, ceramic tile, tubs, sinks, patio furniture, outdoor grills and much more!"
The directions are short but concise: "Spray on soiled area and wipe clean. Rise if necessary. For baked-on grease or thick soap film, wait several minutes before wiping".
The following notes regard what surfaces Orange Clean should not be used on: "On painted surfaces, test Orange Clean on small area. Not recommended for soft, shiny plastic coated surfaces (such as microwave number pads); or soft vinyl, varnished, acrylic plastic, or aluminum surfaces."
"Caution: Keep out of reach of children and pets. In case of eye contact, flush with water."
There is no list of ingredients included on either front or back label.
I was able to clean my kitchen counters and stove without a problem. Every square inch of my kitchen was grease-free. Though, I was disappointed that I could not use it on shiny plastic surfaces, such as the microwave door. If used it can cause the shiny surface to dull from the acidity of the orange oil.
The following day I decided to try it inside my oven, as the television commercial demonstrated. I was displeased with the effectiveness on the greasy build up from the inside of my oven. Granted, Orange Clean did help to dissolve some of the grease, but it hardly cleaned it as well as the television commercial advertised. I had better results with Easy Off, or another oven cleaning product.
Despite the pleasing aroma of Orange Clean, I did not think that it was worth the extra price to continue using it in my kitchen. It did dissolve grease well, but not any better than any other brand of degreasing cleaner. I wasn't able to clean my stove to my standards using Orange Clean. And, I was unable to use it on my microwave. Overall I was not impressed with the performance of Orange Clean. It was not a bad product: merely average.
Since my initial purchase of Orange Clean, I've not bought it again. I was not so displeased to discontinue using it. But, I was disappointed enough to not purchase it again.
