I had the most unpleasant experience with camera ForLess. These people are third rate swindlers and cheats! The store rating and other reviews are misleading. Here's my experience with these people, you make your own judgment:
A family member (who lives overseas) wanted me to buy a refurbished camera for them, on my upcoming visit to them just before Christmas. Initially I had ordered a refurbished Nikon 4500 camera from another merchant for them. They were selling it for 50% off the listed price for a new camera. Unfortunately, when that camera arrived, I realized it was defective. So I had to return that camera. Since I was running out of time, I decided to play it safe and order a new camera, this time from camera ForLess (!).
A couple of facts about the "new" camera CameraForLess sent me:
1> It was a refurbished camera.
2> It was defective too!
I realized it was refurbished because the first camera I ordered had a Nikon refurbished warranty letter. This warranty letter has 2 pages - the first one is a title page saying "Nikon Refurbished Product Warranty", and the second page is the actual warranty information, with "Nikon Refurbished Product Warranty" written on its top right-hand corner. These cunning (and dumb) people had sent the warranty letter, with the first page torn off, and the top right corner of the second page clipped away! I called them up and spoke to their man, who kept insisting that they had sent a new camera. Anyway, he agreed to the return, but that hasn't gone smoothly so far. As expected, they started haggling over the shipping costs/method, and eventually said they'll have to charge 10% restocking fee! That really ticked me off, as I shouldn't have to pay for a defective, refurbished item, when I order (and expect) a brand new item! I threatened them that if they don't give me a full refund (by this time I gave up any hope for my return shipping), I'll dispute their charge with my credit card company. Eventually, that's the course I have been forced to take.
I think this company has a 4.5 star rating because they delivered promptly, and I suspect most people who shopped there in the past haven't realized that they have been taken for a ride! I say this because the refurbished camera they delivered to me (as new) was priced more than $100 than what those refurbished cameras were going for at other reputed online outlets. My advice to other online shoppers looking for a good deal - be very careful when you see one.
