Dear Lark 729_89,
Beanies have dropped in value. If you are collecting for profit, forget about it. Only collect them if you love them. The collector market is too fickle. I suggest you collect what appeals to you-whether it be Beanies, Nascar, plates or anything else. If you make money, its a bonus. This way you don't get disappointed. Beanies are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. I'm going by book value. This means nothing if no one will pay the prices listed. I have been offered a substantial money for my collection, but I'm not selling at any amount. My Beanies mean too much to me.

Your Review (Reply to this comment)
by Lark729_89
It was very well-written and very very thorough loaded with a whole lot of information.
However, there are no more beanie baby clubs that I know of. As one person says "I can't even give mine away now." Is this true?

Excellent review... (Reply to this comment)

My daughter's grandparents sent her a package of 10 Beanie Babies from China several years ago where they were visiting. Included was "Peking" which, at the time, was worth well over $1000.
We were so ecstatic until we found out every single one of them were fakes. Apparently black market Beanies are a huge business over there. The grandparents bought these ones off the street having no idea that they were not the real thing. I could have cried.
A collector actually bought some of our fakes though. His goal was to have a fake partner for every real one he had.
We have several real ones now, Fuzz is my favourite, my son's first teddy bear :)

Ok, I'm a mom of a child with about roughly 35 beanies..I keep meaning to look into the value issue, etc but keep putting it off. Today I'll print this review out, hit her room and see if we have any hidden treasures! I'm also going to see about buying those protective tags.
I'm adding you to my WOT today and look forward to reading more of your work!

Good luck in collecting Beanies. All the kids on your block will love to come and see your collection. See if TY comes out with another limited collection like the Zodiacs. You'll get a sense of completion when the set is done.
I just love the Beanies and don't care that my set is not complete. I understand the feeling, though. Thanks for reading and rating.

I never would have guessed (Reply to this comment)

there was SO MUCH info on Beanies that I needed to think about or know!! I never gave much thought to just collecting SOME. I am one of those people who won't start a collection unless I can have the ENTIRE collection. Issy will never live in my house either, so maybe we will start acquiring a few here and there to add to the few we already have.
