Pros: Higher power than most adapters
Works in car, airplane, and at home
Cons: Short cord from AC plug to transformer
Transformer has burned out several times on me
The Bottom Line: Poor design and a transformer prone to burning out means you should avoid this at all costs.

| stormcrow42's Full Review: Targus Universal AC/DC Notebook Power Adapter (120... |
I purchased this adapter to replace my original one after I frayed the cord that ran between the transformer and my laptop. I really only needed an AC adapter, but since my original power supply was listed at 75 watts, I was wary of buying one of the common 70 watt universal adapters. This was the only high-output adapter the stores I shopped at had at the time.
After I got it home, the first thing that came to my attention was that the AC cord was only about 6" long. This leaves the main transformer hanging from the cord on a friction-fitted plug (which doesn't match the standard AC cord that comes with most laptops). Although this concerns me, it hasn't caused me any problems yet.
What has caused me problems is the main transformer unit. It has burned out on me three times now. The first time was a couple of days after I purchased it (I exchanged it for a new one). The second time was a few months later (due to an impending road trip, instead of dealing with Targus, I fast-talked the store into exchanging it again after agreeing to purchase their replacement plan for it). The third time was less than a month after that (so the store replacement plan came in handy, but I had to pay again to get the replacement covered).
As a side note, on my longest kept adapter, the plug into the laptop became increasingly finicky with how it was plugged in before it would power the laptop. I was concerned that the connection inside my laptop was defective until the transformer burned out and I replaced the entire unit. The new unit started working as normal again.
